Entrance Preview

The entrance exam is called COMEDK. People who don't belong to Karnataka write a different exam called CET but they also get a COMEDK rank so if they are not able to get their favourite course. They can try to get it through their COMEDK rank and then they have to pay fees applicable for COMEDK applicants which is 5-6 times higher.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I would rate the course curriculum as average only. Most of the semesters had traditional subjects and some of the subjects were not useful for us. Or it may the lack in correlation of subjects across course structure. For eg, they teach advanced Mathematics in 3rd and 4th semesters both but it wasn't useful. They have always been more focussed on "Theory".

Internships Opportunities

Companies can come to college campus and conduct drives to offer internships to students. College is a platform then for the students. College doesn't make it mandatory for the students to do internship and nor do they ask companies to visit campus to offer internships. Amazon came once and offered internships to 2 students and the stipend was around 25k. One growing startup did that too and I am not aware of the stipend.

Placement Experience

5

Placements and Job Opportunities are out of the world. That can be one of the biggest driving force for a student to join this college. RVCE is a brand and every year more than 100 companies visit the campus to hire resources. It starts even before the 7th semester starts and goes on even after the 8th semester has ended. The strength of my batch was 66 and more than 60 were placed.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its expensive. Lot of my friends had to take hefty loans. COMEDK applicants paid 5 times CET applicants. Yearly fees varied from 1.25 L to 1.45 L. And this is old data. I have heard that its increased to about 2 L per annum now. People from sports quota paid meagre fees. Besides the tuition fee, some money had to be paid to a trust.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students were mostly helpful. There is a huge alumni network. Recently, college authorities have created an online all the alumni can know about and interact with other alumni.

Exam Structure

There were too many exams and life was not chilled out at all. Every month we would have exams. Total marks would be comprised 50% of marks from internal examinations and remaining from external examinations(question paper would come from VTU and papers will be outside the college).

Admission

COMEDK/CET is conducted for colleges across Karnataka(most of them are private in Bangalore though). They have an online portal from where the form can be procured. One has to take a print out of the form, fill details, put photograph and signatures and attested marks card of 10th/12th and send the form to them with a demand draft of money that they ask for.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty is somewhere between average and below average. Most of the times students were on their own. I saw very few teachers who were dedicated to their profession. Same teachers would be teaching multiple courses and many a times they are teaching a subject they are new to or is completely out of their domain. Most of the teachers had experience but less knowledge.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

From 6th semester we will become eligible for campus placements. Very few companies will visit for chemical engineering those are aslo not core. Highest package offered for a chemical engineering is 600000 I guess this aslo a long back. But dont take a hope on placements here in chemical weapons. Do mainly focus on Gate exam. Get good score go for mtech or apply for good core jobs for interview.
