Course Curriculum Overview

3

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Internships Opportunities

1

Internship is available under COEs of different depts Other than that during placements, companies come and offer placements which can be converted based on performance. Companies like JP Morgan, SAP, Schneider, Walmart, Microsoft, Oracle, Boeing etc. Average package in 2025 was 14 LPA, highest 67 LPA (in B.E) Specifically for AIML: Oracle, PhonePe, Qualcomm, Microsoft, etc Average - 17 LPA, highest: 53 LPA Projects depends on students. I'm not sitting for placements. They generally take a written test, then interview. Some companies sort students based on cgpa and allow only ones above a certain gp to sit for exam.

Fees and Financial Aid

For KCET, fees is lower than COMEDK and Management Quota. Fees is Rs 80K to Rs1.1L per annum. For UG/B.E. This plus the semester or hostel fee (if opted) etc. For COMEDK for the same, it is higher which is Rs 2 - 3 LPA. For Management Quota, it is a lot more which can go upto Rs 70 Lakhs in four years (especially for Computer Science). This is branch dependent. Computer Science is the higest but Industrial Engineering and Management will be lowest, that is Rs 12 LPA. There are scholarship schemes for SC/ST/OBC or others (like AICTE Pragati - this is for girls, PM scholarship) throughout the year, mostly for students based in Karnataka but these are generally not available for students from other states. Apart from usually college fees which varies by quota, other fees are charged like for Skill Labs, exam fees, lab fees, registration fees and other activities roughly 50k. For students staying in hostel, they have to pay hostel and mess fees too which is nearly 1.5 LPA. For students staying further away, college provides buses so students opting for that need to pay a separate bus fee. All fees increase every year. Usually KCET does not increase.

Campus Life

4

College has a lot of Innovative and Cultural clubs who attend many events. Events by Rotaract and NSS keep happening throughout the year. Our main fest is 8th Mile, happening once in 4 years (generally suring odd semester). Infrastructure is good overall, however these few years a lot of contructions are happening. Campus has both RVCE and RVU students with a shared library for both (different floors though). Good range of books and journals. Prev year papers are available online. Smart board is provided in every class and labs. Sports commitee is there and teams win a lot of accolades for college. However, no proper sports ground. A badminton court was there which is broken down due to construction. A field is present on which events are help but otherwise used for parking.

Admission

Did not really apply for other colleges as under KCET, COMEDK, RVCE is the best in terms of faculty, student quality and placements. After mock counselling I knew I was going to get in RVCE in my preferred branch, Many companies are interested to hire students just because of the RVCE tag. Internships are a lot more easy to get. Some teachers have good connections. Teachers readily write recommendation letters for higher studies too. After getting selected in RVCE, students need to go to college (dates mentioned in website). They will need scanned and original copies of 10th, 12th TC, etc. They will take the original copies and give it to students after 3rd Year. A form has to be filled and details uploaded in the system in college itself. They probably ask for more documents from Management students. Eligibility is based on rank which changes every year and can be seen in KCET/COMEDK portals. Karnataka students can give both while students from outside can give only COMEDK.

Faculty

4

Student to staff ration is around 18:1. In general most faculty are approachable and helpful. They will help with projects, recommendation letters etc. Some are not approachable but that is about 2 - 3 teachers in the whole college, a minority. Teachers are in general supportive and helpful, even for labs. Even if students dont do well in exams, teachers give retests to help them. For AIML, course structure is mostly Core CS with AIML like ML basics, supervised and unsupervised learning etc., deep learning. In first year, all students study the same subjects consisting of 2 programming languages, physics and chemistry electives, maths. Branch change is available after first year. For 2 - 3 subjects per semester, lab is included. A project called EL is done for all subjects (a main EL for the core subjects combined). Exams are in 3 slots per semester called CIE's. Best of 2 from each subject are considered. Quiz of 10 marks is there for all subs (best of 2 taken). project and lab work is added and combined to 100. Sem-end exmas is of 100, both are reduced to 50 and added for final grade. Marking scheme usually depends on the teacher. Exams in general are not too hard. Students can score easily if they study. Most students pass, some have backlogs after SEE which can be cleared with supplements. Very few get NSSR (very less score in the 100 of CIE due to which they cant sit for SEE ) or NSAR (due to extremely low attendance before SEE) Course curriculum is quite relevant and is updated continuously every year with major changes being documented as a toally new scheme. Syllabus and marks structure for each branch, each year is published in the website.

Night Life

1

No nightlife. Girls hostel curfew is 6:30 pm, boys is 10 pm. Day scholars are not allowed after 6:30 pm. If events are there (like fests), permission is given to students till 11 pm. Gym is bad. No equipments working properly. Stuffed, no proper ventilation. Very less timing. Under the boys hostel inside garage. Two canteens, Mingos and MM foods. Average food. MM is better. Closed on sundays. Hangout places: Canteen, space outside library, Biotech quadrangle. Not allowed to roam around at night. Campus is safe in general as many dogs are there. And security guards too.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
