Great college for career development

After completing my Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering, I was a bit confused about my next step. So I took a year off from my studies. I decided to pursue Civil Engineering but I was not able to get admission to many colleges due to my previous education. Then I saw the LPU ad on TV and applied for it, but the fee was a bit higher than expected, then the counsellor told me about the scholarship that I could avail myself of through LPUNEST and I scored good marks in it and got a 50% scholarship. The minimum admission criteria for lateral entry was 50% in diploma and from a recognised board. The admission process was swift as most of the part was online, some formalities were completed in college otherwise rest could have been completed in the branch office in your city. Counsellors and staff are well educated and supportive and each step is elaborated well enough.

I chose Civil Engineering because of my family background. In beginning I was a bit nervous as I completely switched my branch after diploma, I was curious if I will be able to understand the course or not but the faculty made it extremely easy for us. Each faculty is well educated and most of them have Masters in their respective subject. The student-faculty ratio is well maintained. The exam is conducted every 30 days and tests your ability to comprehend the knowledge given in class. Exams are well planned and have moderate difficulty.

Companies mostly offer site supervisor or trainee engineer posts to us. I did a 45-day summer intership in Delhi in sewage pipeline rehabilitation. The intership introduced me to various aspects of civil engineering and also pointed out the fields that I lacked in. A viva is taken to evaluate your learning outcomes. This is a major part of the intership. Later on in the 7th semester, you can again apply for an internship of 6 months or 1 whole year.

Students are eligible for placement after the 6th semester. Each year huge amount of companies hire students from our campus like tata projects, L&T, etc. The packages offered to vary from 6 LPA to 1 CR per annum. 60-70% of students are placed for sure every year.

Each year 5000 is added to the amount of the fee but if you can score well in LPUNEST you can avail a good amount of scholarship. There is another financial assistance available. You can also work in the LPU help centres as part-time assistance and earn attractive pocket money.

Each year many fests are conducted in the university like- one India, one world, Coke Studio, science Congress, inter-school sports, inter hostel sports. All the books related to your course are available in your block library and central Library. Books can be issued from both of these. You can request books not available in the library from UMS. Each class has good Ventilation, AC, CCTV, projectors and enough seating space for children. Various clubs are active in the university and students actively take part in them, some of them are- EQ, HIPPOCAMPUS, CLUB 20, ETC.

Hostel rooms have many categories, 1 seater, 2 seaters, 3 seaters, 4 seaters. Cooler/AC and dorms. Each room has an attached washroom except the dorm. Rooms have good ventilation and all the facilities like light, fan, ac/cooler, beds, chairs and table and almirah. Food provided in hostel mess is of good quality, although you can it a bit different from what you are used to eating, the quality and quantity both satisfied me. Different meals are provided each day which contain a good amount of balanced and tasty food. The hostel can be availed online through us or during the admission process.
