Course Curriculum Overview
I was always interested in learning about international businesses and how they grow into a different territory so I chose International business. The course was a combination of practical as well as theoretical aspects and all the faculties were PhD holders and has a significant amount of academic research papers published by them. On average a class of 60 students was managed by 6-7 different faculty in a semester, also the class was divided into two subgroups as well, and the faculty take query sessions or the tutorial session once a week for each group. For every semester, we had one major exam and 3 Continuous Assessments for each subject. The difficulty level was moderate as it majorly includes case studies and presentations.
Internships Opportunities
LPU provided many opportunities for internships with major brands and attractive roles. Students get interned for digital marketing, data analytics, financial analyst, sales and marketing. The stipend varies from 5000-20000. The internship started at the end of the first year till the starting of the second year. One has to mandatorily complete 45 days of internship either through college opportunities or independent offers. Then, viva will be taken to get the understanding from the internships. Various live projects to promote and sell company products were also offered during the first year.
Placement Experience
We had a trimester system for the MBA, so after 3 trimesters the placement opportunities started to visit campus generally from the month of October or November. Major brands like ITC, Unilever, Federal Bank, Eclerex, Aashiana housing, etc. Roughly 200-300 companies visited the campus. And every student was allowed to sit in these opportunities until he is not placed anywhere. Once placed or selected in any company then you can't sit for any other. Then comes the 1.5x criteria, if the company is offering 1.5 times your current CTC then only you can sit for it. Almost 90% of the eligible students with no pending backlog gets placed. The highest package offered was 15LPA and on average 3-4 LPA. Majorly the placements were in the sales domain.
Fees and Financial Aid
LPU offers very high financial assistance to its students ranging from 20% to 50%. The scholarships are provided on the basis of the LPUNEST exam, CAT, XAT, GMAT, Grad score, children of military personnel, etc. I got a 50% scholarship in academic fees due to my LPUNEST exam. Talking about the jobs and internships, the campus offers a pretty good amount of placement opportunities. I worked with Colgate Palmolive on 9 days live project for 4500 and an internship with ITC for a duration of 2 months 10000 and currently, I'm placed in ITC at a package of 4.5 LPA.
Campus Life
The campus is lush green with so much happening every day that you may not find time to explore it all. Every day there 5-6 events going on run by student clubs and faculty clubs. LPU has one central library with books available for all academic backgrounds and novels and journals. And in every department, we have respective libraries for each department. Classes are Air conditioned and smart with a projector facility and speakers. Every year in October we have LPU fest which is an annual fest and a combination of many different events which runs for 3-4 days. There is a particular department for students clubs and extracurricular activities where you learn new skills like dancing, musical instruments, singing, skating, table tennis, badminton, Gym, etc. Overall campus life is the best
Hostel Facilities
I opted for a 4 seater air cooler room. The room had 4 beds, 4 tables, 2 iron almirahs half compartments for each student. The space was sufficient to keep your belongings. Toilet and bathroom are attached with the geyser provided. 3 fans were provided in a 4 seater room and a charging socket over each bed. The room is pretty spacious with a small balcony attached to it. We had one water machine shared by 10 rooms, which was fitted in the corridor. The food quality of the mess was average as every other mess. A yearly food schedule is provided beforehand so that you know what to expect. Meals were provided 4 times a day.
Interview Experience
The admission criteria involved exam and interview. One has to give LPUNEST exam to qualify for the admission. The questions in exam were focused on aptitude, reasoning and general awareness. I had prepared for CAT which is stands high on the difficulty level if compared to LPUNEST. And in the next step of the interview, the questions were concentrated on hobbies, introduction, background of the family, why do you want to do MBA, how was the grad experience.
