The Multi- Cultural Shyambazar law College!

I had given the entrance examination of Calcutta University for law and got admission in the college Shyambazar Law College under Calcutta University. This examination needs the minimum qualification of passing the 12th board examination under any recognized Board.

My interest in law started with my interest in Political Science in my high secondary academics. I was sure studying law will help me make a career utilizing my interests and skills. In my college, the number of students in my batch is 122. There are 8-10 faculty members with teaching experiences ranging from 2 years to 17 years. They all are very well educated and have a zeal of teaching and educating their students with utmost enthusiasm. The Teacher in Charge (T.I.C) Kana Mukherjee maam handles her students with compassion and understands their point of view encouraging them to be louder with their thoughts. All the others faculty members (teaching/non-teaching) instill among the students, discipline, and togetherness. Due to Covid, the first semester was delayed bt later on via online examinations we coped up with the normal curricular terms.

Placements are provided by the college after the completion of the 5th year (10th) . Around 90% of the students receive placements in their desired companies. The students get salary packages as similar as the ones for government employees. The packages can vary from around 20,000 to 1 lakh per month as per the job opted for.

The area of the college has an exquisite tinge of old Calcutta neighborhood giving a very pure and peaceful atmosphere to the students. There are cafeterias, playgrounds, medical shops, printout shops and more or less everything around it in the same lane. The seniors organize Freshers part and juniors organize farewell parties making the bond of the students very closely linked. All the people are very endearing and friendly. The students grow a bond with the neighborhood shops as well as they all are part of their campus lives. The college organizes moot courts, debate competitions, seminars, webinars for the students. The college also takes part in numerous activities and competitions hosted from other colleges and win prizes for their performance.
