Remarks

I only had COEP in my mind when it came to choosing a college for my B.Tech. As I was only preparing for MHTCET, getting into COEP was a very long and challenging journey. Even though I secured 99.903 percentile (state rank-130), I still couldn't manage to get my desired branch (computer engineering), through the cap rounds. I had to apply for the spot round and got the last remaining seat available for GOPEN. With my rank, I could've gotten any branch in COEP except computer engineering through the cap rounds. The admission process got me feeling very nervous as the whole process was very new to me and a lot of documentation was needed. Also, I had to be very patient to wait for my turn as a lot of students had come to get admission into the college. MHTCET is an easy exam to crack for a sincere 12th grader of any board, but it requires excellent time management skills as the candidate to supposed to solve 100 questions of physics and chem in 90 minutes and rest 50 of maths in 90 minutes.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose computer engineering because of my interest in the field. We've got a class of almost 70 students in each division. We have a different teacher for every different subject taught and the faculty is highly qualified consisting of PhD holders and engineers. We have 2 midterms, the first one month after the start of the semester and the second midterms a month after that. Then, in the end, we have our end term exams. The midterms are of 20 marks each and the end term is of 60 marks. For some subjects, the marking is different as the lab is included. It is quite difficult to ace the exams as they are very conceptual and the teachers don't spoon feed the students.

Internships Opportunities

4

Many internship opportunities are offered first year's. Although, most of them are unpaid as they require less work. Some of them require a technical background, whereas some require excellent soft skills.

Placement Experience

4.5

Students become eligible for campus placements in the final year of their Btech course. Over 200 companies like Arcesium, Goldman Sachs, Bajaj Auto, Barclays, and Mastercard visit each year to pick the brightest minds of the college. The highest package is around 33 LPA whereas the average package is around 6-7 LPA. In 2019, 79.53% of the students were placed. I plan to work very hard during my course so that I could land a good job with a decent package in the campus placements.

Fees and Financial Aid

My course fee was around 90,000 rupees. It includes the tuition, development fee, library, campus internet, alumni association fee, etc. Many scholarships are available for students but I didn't apply for one. Also, I'm not sure whether there are campus jobs in my college.

Campus Life

5

The cultural fest, Impressions is held every December. The tech feat, minds park is held in September. The sports fest, Zest is organized in January and many colleges from all over India participate to win laurels for their college. Finally, 'Regatta', our boat club event was held in April this year and is one of the most unique aspects of COEP. The library in the college is one of the vastest collections of books and journals as the college is the 3rd oldest in Asia. The classrooms are equipped with proper benches and fans. In some classrooms and labs, AC is provided. The view of the river from some classes is amazing! It is made sure that the students engage in extracurricular activities as much as their studies, to ensure the overall development of the student. There are tons of clubs in the college. From BHAU entrepreneurship cell to art club and boat club to Ramanujan maths club, there are clubs for every student to be a part of.

Placement Experience:

Placement at GH Raisoni College Of Engineering and Management are moderate, especially for CSE/AI Student . Students become eligible from the 7th sem. companies like TCS, Infosys, and WIPro visit the campus. The higher package goes upto around 8-10 LPA, and the average Package is 3-4 LPA. Around 60-75% of students get placed. After graduation, i plan to work in software/AI roles and improve my skills through internship and Certifications.

Placement Experience:

The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:20, and most teachers are quite approachable if you meet them during their free slots. I really appreciate the senior professors in the core departments because they have deep subject knowledge and explain concepts practically. However, some newer faculty members tend to stick strictly to the textbook or slides, which makes the lectures a bit dry. Since the college follows the SPPU pattern. I chose this course after a long CAP round process. Initially, I was aiming for VIT or DY Patil in Pune, and even checked out colleges in Mumbai and MVP KBTCOE in Nashik, but I ultimately landed here at AISSMS. The curriculum is quite comprehensive for building a strong engineering foundation, though I feel it could include more industry-relevant tools and coding workshops.

Placement Experience:

The placments are overall moderately good especially if you are from electrical branches including Electrical , Electronics, Computer, and Instrumentation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. From third year onwards internship season starts where companies visits our campus and students need to go through online tests and series of interviews for each companies to get offer where the students selected for offer need to attend the internship after the end of third year in may and june when college have holidays. Similarly Based on performance the interns may get full time offer as well. Full Time Placement starts in final year and the process is exactly same where the interviews are mostly online and the students placed gets the offer letter. Almost 90 - 95% of the students especially of above branches gets placed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So the Computer Engineering is all about core subjects which are really helpful for future like cloud, iot and Database etc But the syllabus of the university change after every 4 years and there is nothing but removing one subject and add another similar subject but I think in era of Ai and automation the syllabus is sort of outdated like if you are getting in Second year you have to learn subject which you have not interested in so you have to learn those subjects anyway and if you want to learn more about new skills you have to do it by yourself.
