NSUT, Bachelor of design in fashion technology

Remarks

I had applied for bachelor of fashion technology in national institute of fashion technology too and had got a rank of 61 all India but there was too much reservation, for a class of 42, only 15 seats were allotted to general category, moreover, the cost of the program was too high, with Nil placements and the hostel too was costly whereas, in Netaji Subhash University of technology, the same course was being offered with better equipment for learning, affordable hostel prices, and strong placement support. So, instead of NIFT, I decided to join NSUT. I got admission through my NIFT rank, any national design institute, funded by the central government's score was accepted. No, I didn't have to attend any counselling and was offered admission. I am 18 yrs right now, but the minimum age criteria were that the student should be 18 by 31 December 2021.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I had a keen interest in fashion and lifestyle, then after seeing what all this university was offering, I was sure that I am going to this university only. The average student ratio is 1:8. The faculty is really supportive and clear all the doubts which I face, without even twitching an eyebrow for the teaching method, I suppose it to be best. No one had taught like this till the school level, so it is kind of interesting and attractive. I have not given any exams yet, so I don't have an idea regarding this.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The internship is compulsory for students in the 3rd year and there is nothing like an average stipend since it ranges from the ability and skills of every student. The internship is compulsory for all and in fashion technology, the motto is earn while learn, so these students are taught to earn while they are in any year, there are a variety of projects and internships profile, whichever suits the candidate, he opts for that one.

Placement Experience

4.5

In the 3rd year, that is 6 semesters, the students begin offering placements or internships. Around 200+ companies visit NSUT for placements and the highest placement offered on our campus was 1,25,00,000 pa. At the end of the degree, there is no student found who has not been placed. The average package for a btw h student in NSUT is 8 LPA. 100% of students are placed. I don't really have placement plans after my degree and wish to start my own label, so basically, I am here to gain the knowledge and process of how everything works.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is no fee hike and we were told the fee for all 4 years of our program beforehand only, so that is an advantage since stability is most required. The cost to study is bearable as compared to other design and fashion institutes, even though they have better resources. I am in my first year and haven't applied for any scholarship. Also, I didn't require any financial assistance so didn't dig in deeper.

Campus Life

4.5

NSUT has been famous for its fests, where big personalities arrive and it rejoices the soul of the students. It is conducted in February. And the name is moksha. The Library of the university is flooded with books of all kinds and bookworms like me find it as their favourite spot. Classrooms have a good aura and all the amenities needed with a lecture hall, which is the favourite of everyone. I can sit there for like hours reading anything and everything about fashion. Also, all the latest and branded magazines are available. Which makes it even better. There are a lot of sports and 4 grounds for practising. Be it kabaddi, cricket, football or any other sports, most of them are there in our university. Every kind of club can be found in nsut, photography, literature, mun, debate, cultural, dance, theatre, music, technical etc.

Other Applied Colleges

The fee structure was too high , placement opportunities were nil and the reservation was too much

As a future law student philosophy was one of the options which was good to opt. Secondly, comparatively less people opt it and it can be one of the better choices if you are preparing for upsc and taking it as an optional. Teaching can be made more interactive as the topics are really interesting

Labs and libraries are not so good. And there are stray dogs who often steps into classes and make us afraid. College is not fully air conditioned but is on processing.
