Entrance Preview

I took BITSAT exam and passed it with 300 marks. I wanted to opt for Computer science but I couldn't get it, so I went for Mechanical.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum was good enough to nurture good engineers. But, research was not given much preference. The course of course provided a lot more than I expected but still I remained hungry from the research side. I knew that Mechanical is a field that requires lots of research work, so I adopted Finance as an extra subject to be on the safer side.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the college provides internship in a number of well known companies like Honda, JPMC etc. But this time only few companies visited the campus but luckily I got internship in a Finance company. The stipend was around Rs.25000.

Placement Experience

2.5

There were not many companies this time. So, the placement and job opportunities were few. The average package was around 10 lakh p.a. Companies like Mahindra, Honda, J.P. Morgan, Credit Suisse ,Computech and others visit the campus and provide packages in this way JPMC 10-12 lakhs, Honda 5-6 lakhs, L&T 7-8 lakhs, Credit Suisse 3-7 lakhs, Adobe 13-18 lakhs, TCS 6-10 lakhs.

College Events

4

Festivals like techfest, photoshoot, farewell photo shoot etc. were conducted. The Tech fest is a grand function in which many talented individuals as well as companies present their new inventions or upcoming products that could bring revolution in our lives. Sometimes there were musical concerts too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is extremely expensive. I paid around 3 lakhs every year. But, then the facilities provided by the college are fair enough. The fee structure was 1st semester 1.45 lakhs, 2nd semester 1.53 lakhs, 3rd semester 1.67 lakh, 4th semester 1.51 lakhs, 5th semester 1.44 lakhs, 6th semester 1.45 lakhs, 7th semester :1.31 lakhs, 8th semester 1.57 lakhs. My father borrowed money from many of his friends to pay my fee.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, SBH provided loan facilities to the needy candidates which covered the whole fee on a nominal rate of interest. It has to be paid after one year of passing out of the college. Also, those candidates whose family income was less than 2.5 lakhs were given scholarship of around 30000-40000.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life was awesome. The college was situated in a forest-like place which was about 20kms away from the city. The environment was very soothing. Sports facilities were too good. There separate basketball fields, tennis courts, swimming pool, gym etc. Gender ratio was good. The students belonged to various parts of the country which created a diversity in the college.

Exam Structure

It was very tough. Sometimes there were two to three exams in a single day. The schedule of classes and workshops was very frequent. So I got very less time for preparation of exams every time. The life was very busy and I faced a lot of difficulties. So, the schedule of my college was very uncomfortable.

Admission

I filled BITSAT form online, then took the exam in Delhi where I was taking coaching at that time. I scored 300 marks in it and then went to Hyderabad for counselling. It was a wonderful experience. The administration in the campus was excellent. But I got to know that I won't get Computer science but only Mechanical engineering.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty was knowledgeable, experienced and helpful. There were many IITIANS ,BITSIANS and even MITIANS among them. So I learned a lot. They taught us very carefully and went into great depth on every topic. But, the research work was not up the mark due to lack of expensive scientific instruments.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like that the course doesn't feel outdated. Along with the regular subjects we spend a lot of time on coding, projects, and problem solving so it feels connected to what companies actually expect. As a second year student i already feel like i am building skills that i will be able to use during internships and placements and not just preparing for semester exams

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Placement cell is least active.. Few good companies like Infosys, amazon, TCS etc visited but the average package is of 1-2 LPA and only 25-30% of students whose all exams are cleared can sit in the placement cell. The highest package is of 8LPA. My plan is to move abroad for higher studies.. The students after completion of 6th sem can sit in placement cell

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
