Entrance Preview

No entrance exams taken as i was not meaning to study engineering or medical..wanted to study physics or maths in advanced level.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

The course is finely divides in groups and every group and/or subject has a different teacher who is expert in that field of mathematics. The prime medium of communication is bengali but the teachers will explain in english if you insist. There is not much focus on research in first year but the teachers encourage thinking outside the box and to come up with innovative ideas.

Internships Opportunities

I do not have any knowledge in this matter as i have only started now and haven't done any research regarding college internship.

Placement Experience

1

I do not have any knowledge in this matter as i have only started now and haven't done any research regarding college internship. As per my knowledge the college does not host any companies which provide placements for students. That usually happens in engineering, medical and private colleges which are in turn very expensive.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is the mos feasible structure i have ever seen. Its near to ₹5000 for one year for my course and is nearly the same for other courses.

Fees and Financial Aid

Many scholarship/loan facilities are available in the college. You can refer to their website to check them out. Special loans are available for women and SC / ST candidates under government schemes too.

Campus Life

2

Gender ratio is as unbiased as it can possibly be (50:50) and it is again as racially diverse as it could be but do not expect students from abroad. Extracurricular activities are promoted here, specially sports. Debates are held here but robotics.

Exam Structure

Overall in a year 3 official test weeks are held and 1st is in November. Which is 1st midterm (25 marks) not added in final marks. Just a revision test similarly in feb and the final in july/aug. In the final test paper is divided in 4 parts (50 marks each) and each paper is taken in a day.

Admission

Through rank in marks for mathematics and physics in Class 12 board exams. No extra test was taken and the requirement was only the result for 12 and 10 (mainly for DOB) form was available online on official website.

Faculty

2.5

The teaching faculty is very qualified 3 out the 5 teachers have PhD in their respective fields and the other two have advanced degrees too. They never take help of books or guides but can solve most of the problems by their own wit. The standard of maths department is much better the other departments as classes are regular here.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
