Remarks

Pros:1. NIRF Ranking is superb for NIT Rourkela. 2017 was the first year NIRF rankings were out for India and NIT Rourkela ranked amongst the best engineering college in India2. Huge and attractive campus. These were the two primary reasons to join NIT Rourkela.Other than this, the placement is also amongst the best one can expect.Cons:1. The teaching staff is not up to the mark as one would expect. But the club culture and environment that the institute and its people provide help students excel nevertheless.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course Curriculum1. Course curriculum is one of the most updated curriculum on would find for colleges in India. 2. Curriculum is revised once every two years with introduction of new courses.3. Courses are also restructured to keep up with the industry demands.4. Every theory course has a practical course running in parallel. This provides a complete outlook and coverage of the course.Academics:1. Academics is rigorous2. 4-5 Theory courses + 3 practical courses each semester3. 85% attendance is mandatory or else student will face gradeback. 4. 2 semesters per year.5. Two examinations mid semester and end semester each year. With 30% and 50% weightage in final grade calculation. 20% is for internal teacher's assessment.6. Semester papers are difficult but depends on your preparation. If you focus on class and cover syllabus and practice previous year papers you can easily score more than 85%.7. Pass percentage is more than 35%Faculties:1. Faculties are ok.2. Some are two good and some are just lame.3. Don't expect too much on this front.4. Faculties will have great qualifications with PhDs from renowned institutions and will also have commendable research profile but it boils down to the fact that not every person with a prestigious PhD can teach.Student faculty ratio in CSE department is around 25 faculty for around 600 students.600 students includes Bachelor students of all years + masters students of various disciplines and PhD students as well
