Remarks
I wanted to go to a university and not any college. I failed to secure a seat in PAU, Ludhiana (but never regretted it). LPU was offering this course for the first time. I did not have much knowledge about accreditations and all so I pursued for it.Admission process is simple just give them a call. They will manage the rest.Pros- Good and dynamic faculty; Enough facilities for UG courses; Fully digital management (through UMS, I mean truly paperless); good placement opportunities. Cons- Too much restrictions (almost a living example of a surveillance state).
Course Curriculum Overview
It is quite good. Made as close as possible to ICAR guidelines. But don't have idea of current status of a RAWE (Rural Agricultural Work Experience).Faculty members are usually young Ph.D. passed out (or may be pursuing) scholars from agri. universities. Most preferred method of teaching (among teachers) is a MS-powerpoint.Exams are held quite regularly. (Mid Sem (weight 25) and End Sem (weight 50) and assignments (weight 20), rest 5 marks were awarded as per attendance).Exam usually depends on courses some are easy some are not.
Internships Opportunities
Yes I got an internship opportunity at PepsiCo ltd. It was regarding monitoring potato seed field from different diseases. We were paid a fixed stipend as well free food and accommodations.
Placement Experience
I had appeared in 2-3 interviews and secured an offer from one. But my plans were to pursue for higher education and I got a M.Sc. seat in Tamil Nadu Agri. Uni. in my desired discipline and hence I wasn't much interested in placements in those times.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Now a days the fee is almost three times what we paid, so one see that. But you get concessions as per your marks in 12th exam and entrance exams. No I did not get any chance of getting into a on campus job (though we attended a training program for one month with some stipend).Hostel fees vary widely- it varied from like 50k to 1.5Lacs in those days but it might have different range now. For food a lot of options are available.
Campus Life
Life at campus is good in general. You have enough space to roam about. Enough time to make good relations and enjoy meanwhile keeping good pace with studies. You can get into sports if you have some prior experience. Uni is quite cautious about its sports team representing it at national and international competitions.
Hostel Facilities
I stayed in hostels only. My opted for costlier ones.My room was fully equipped and with an attached washroom with geyser facility(it is true about almost all hostels that we didn't have had common washrooms).I had an air conditioned hostel room. Yes true.I don't know about current fees for that but during 2014-15 (my last year) my room costed nearly 1 lac per annum. Laundry facility is included.Meal quality was hygienic but you can't say it was the tasty food.
Admission
No this was not the criteria for the Agri course. Moreover the university do have enough seats and allows any number of students to get admitted in the course. And that is what I think how the private universities should be. They must do best in class and allow any person to pursue what he wants to.
