Entrance Preview

I got into this college via the KCET exam. My KCET score was 4556 which was decent but still not that great to get a crazy college for ECE. Ended up in BMSIT in the second round of the online allotment process.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is the same as any other VTU affiliated college. They do try to improve it with certain poster making contests, quizzes, innovative and case study questions in the internal papers. As far as focus on research goes, there's not much of a drive on that topic. They do call industry experts for talks on topics where possible but it is pretty handicapped when compared to the flexibility of autonomous institutions.

Internships Opportunities

The college has made it compulsory for all students to attend internships especially in their 3rd year. However, earlier is also accepted. The internships have to be acquired majorly through your own contacts. However, the college does help provide a couple of internships. There is no stipend provided for any such internship.

Placement Experience

3

The placements are pretty good, however the people incharge in the placement cell can be a real pain sometimes. There are enough of companies that come here for everyone with a 60% and above grade to get placed. Some of the companies are DirectI (12L), Fidelity(5L), Dell(6L), MuSigma(7L), KPIT(3.25L), SAP(9L) and the usual Wipro, Cognizant, etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for a CET student come up to around 55000 per year which is pretty decent. There aren't really other charges throughout the year (other than the lab breakage charges). COMEDK students pay around 1L and above per year. There are reductions in fees for SC/ST students as per VTU.

Fees and Financial Aid

Being a General Merit student with sufficient family income, I am not eligible for any scholarships, however many of the students do avail a couple of scholarships. There is no loan facility as such offered by the college.

Campus Life

3

The campus is lively all the time (other than when the security demands ID cards in every single place.) The gender ratio is roughly normalised at 50% and no such segregation of boys and girls. Every year the hostelites host a party for the freshers and there's not a lack of places for any sort of activities from sports to just hanging around. Regular activities like poster making, debate contests, sports selections are ever present.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is decent and the senior students were all helpful in every aspect. There was no such superiority complex. People from the alumni network are invited to give talks about industry requirements and placement process which is helpful.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is the general VTU exam structure. 3 internals, one every month, and 2 lab internals around a month before the external lab internals. The internal exam structure however is not conventional at all. Only 3 questions are from syllabus and 2 other questions include an innovative question and a case study. The topics are provided before hand and students need to prepare for the same.

Admission

I got this college in the second round of the KCET allotment. Immediately got a print of the result and went to the college. Met the admission incharge in the office. After that just had to fill out a form of all personal details. After this every student needs to create an account in the college branch of Allahabad bank and pay the fees for the first year.

Faculty

3.5

The performance of the faculty on a whole is satisfactory. There are always really good and bad teachers in each college, no exceptions here either. However all of them are well qualified and can be approached at anytime regarding any concerns, ideas or problem solving.

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
