Remarks
Eligibility: - The eligibility is a minimum of 50% in maths, physics, chemistry or biology, or vocational course; taken together in 12th standard or equivalent examination. And you should have appeared for MHT-CET 2021/JEE-MAINS(Paper-1) SAT/ PERA-CET Exam and should obtain a non-zero score in this qualifying examination. Where to Apply: - Since it is an autonomous university you will find the application form along with the dates on the official website kjsce.somaiya.edu. No particular improvement I would like to see in the admission process. The entire admission process is done transparently and fairly giving equal opportunities to all its applicants to be a part of this prestigious university.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as it has future applications in IoT and also gives a basic understanding of computer programming in the first year. The faculty: student ratio is 1:44. Almost all our teachers are Ph.D. Scholars in their respective fields and are having excellent teaching methods. They use virtual labs to demonstrate experiments, use PPT's to make learning simple, and give you a lot of free certification courses you can do to stand unique among others. Term Exams come after every 5/6 months. Passing the exams is not a big deal if you pay attention in class and do the home assignments on time.
Internships Opportunities
For internships companies like Barclays, Morgan Stanley, CISCO, Microsoft, etc give the highest stipend of 40 Lacs. There are in-house internships(within the college) that can be done by joining the software development cell,bloombox, etc. There are also external internships(outside college) which you can do with other institutes and their professors or you can do it with startups. Guys don't read it all here. Save some excitement for the future.
Placement Experience
From the third year you are eligible for campus placements. Last year 43 companies visited and the no of offers was 356 were placed. The highest package was 13.66 Lacs and the average package is 7.54 lacs. This year surprisingly the highest package was 40 Lacs. The top companies visiting are Capgemini, TCS, Microsoft, L&T Infotech, etc. The placement percentage is 60%.
Fees and Financial Aid
The first-year fee is 3.4 Lacs and is subjected to an 8% hike every year. You will be applicable for financial aid only if you are either physically disabled, have an annual family income less than 8,00,000 per annum, the ward of disabled or deceased defense personnel or have represented your state or country in a recognized sport(only for BSc Sports and Exercise Science Applicants). Talking about scholarships there are many of them like subject-based, merit-based, etc.
Campus Life
The annual fest of KJ Somaiya College of Engineering is Abhiyantriki. We have an online library which has a lot of books. Classrooms are well maintained, with proper benches, space, etc. Our university is the best for Sports I can say. It has athletic tracks, football, tennis court and much more which help you grow in sports too. Guys! Don't forget about the clubs. There is a student council, an art club called team insignia, a drama team called rhapsody, and many other clubs. You can participate in anyone, according to your choice.
