Entrance Preview

Admission to NSIT takes place through JEE mains. I scored 177 marks in JEE mains that took place on 3rd april 2016. My rank in JEE mains was 6936. CBSE declares the rank after the normalization of score considering the score in JEE Mains and Class 12th board percentage. I opted for this college because it's curriculum of B.TECH in information technology is one of the best in nation.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, NSIT provides internship to the students but only students of CSE and IT are able to fetch that. Reputed companies visit the campus for offering internship to students so that they can also offer PPO to students if they are good.Average stipend is 20-25K for summer internship.

Placement Experience

5

I would say that placement of NSIT is the best in NCR region after IIT Delhi. On an average 175 companies visit the campus every year for the placement. Companies like Microsoft, google and Direct show keen interest in recruiting the students. Lowest Package in the year 2015-2016 was 4 Lakhs. While the highest package went upto 1.25 crores and average package being around 6 lacs per annum.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees of NSIT has increased manifolds in the previous few years. For a student taking admission in batch 2016-2020 average fees is approximately 1.5 lacs per annum for a general category student. It starts from 1.25 lacs in first year and goes upto 1.66 lacs in the final year making the total fees for the programme too high for a middle class student.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility is provided to the students studying in NSIT by the Delhi government. Delhi Government has launched an attractive Higher Education Guarantee Scheme for the students.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is a real fun for a student living in a hostel but not that great for day scholars as the campus is located in one end of the city thereby making it hectic for them. Sports Meet is organized every year by the college management. Also NSIT-MUN is organized for the future debaters of the and hence encouraging co-curriculars.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network and seniors are very helpful and whole college work as a team for getting each student placed in a reputed company.

Exam Structure

Thought the exams are not very frequent, but there is one cycle of mid semester exams which last for a week. The mid semester exams are held back to back to back and get over within a week. The end semester exams on the other hand take around fifteen days to get over. The end semester examinations are not held back to back. We have a break of atleast 1 day for each exam.

Admission

The admission process for the college starts after the result declaration of JEE mains. JEE Mains result was declared on 23rd June 2016.The main process of the admission is initiated by the JAC i.e.Joint Admission Counselling. The notification for the admission was released on 26th June 2016.We were further asked to fill a preference for the branches.

Faculty

3

Faculty of NSIT is highly qualified but they lack the quality of showing practical aspects of the subject. The focus is on syllabus completion instead of knowledge transmission to the students. However there are some exception to these as some teachers go forward with the syllabus only after making the class understand all the concepts of that topic.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Jamia Millia Islamia are not too high or too low and depend on the branch. Students can apply for placements starting from their 7th semester. Big companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and some startups come to recruit. The average salary offered is between 7 to 8 lakhs per year, but there are not many students who get higher packages. About 40 to 60 percent of students get placed. Many students also work on getting into higher studies or look for jobs outside the campus after they finish their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.
