Remarks

You have to pass the higher secondary exam with a minimum of 40% marks and you must come from the science stream with Mathematics subject. Then you are eligible for applying for this course here. No entrance exam was taken & the admission process is based on the marks you have got in your HS exam. So the higher marks you get, the higher your chance to be on the merit list. For the application form visit basirhatcollege.org and fill the form with all necessary documents. Then if you get to appear on the merit list, you have to pay the admission fee of approximately Rs 2600. Yes like any other college the reservation seats are minority students.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I have taken a science stream in higher secondary school. And among the 4 science subject, I love mathematics most. I have also scored good marks in Mathematics. So I have selected this subject for graduation. We have a total of 5 professors and we had roughly 45 students in our department. So the balance between student & faculty is satisfactory. Some of our professors have done a Ph.D. and some of them are MSc. But their teaching methods have been the same. They are very efficient in collective class taking. They have taken practical classes and taught us the C language. We have two-semester every year and 6 semesters in total. As the semester progresses exams become difficult.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college fee may increase a little bit every year. But in our time the admission fee was around Rs 2300 and for the second semester the exam fee was around 800, for 3rd semester the fee was around 1200 for 4 th semester the was around 600 for 5th semester the fee was around 1300 and for the last semester, the fee was again around 700. The total fee in 3 years varies from between Rs6000-8000. College fees are generally affordable so they do not provide any financial help. You have many scholarships options available. Swami Vivekananda scholarship & Kanyashree scholarships are the most popular scholarships. You get Rs 18000 per year. But your percentage of marks must be 60% and above.

Campus Life

4

Our college organizes many cultural programs. When we were new we have seen freshers' programs. In winter our college organizes big cultural programs. other than that many small programs & festivals are organized and celebrated all round the year.We have a very big playground in front of our college. We have a very good library in our college. We have got some books from our college. The library room is very peaceful and wide-spaced. Our classroom is medium but not highly cleared. It's a decent room. Yes, we have a sports activity in front of our college playground. Cricket football, volleyball everything happens there. We have a hostel for students you can apply for a hostel based on the marks you have got. We have a student union group.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
