MSc in Biotechnology from Jadavpur University

The eligibility is Bachelor's degree (Hons) in any Life Science related subjects as well as Chemistry, with Chemistry as a pass subject and minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics in (10+2) level. The application form and dates could be found on the official website of Jadavpur University. The application fee for the entrance is only 200/-. there are reservation policies according to the West Bengal govt. SC-15%; ST-7%; OBC-A-5%; OBC-B-3%. I think there is no need to make any improvement in the admission process.

In the current scenario, Biotechnology could be found in every medical-related technique. So, as per my personal opinion doing a master's would be better in interdisciplinary subjects rather than in core subjects. There are 5 permanent professors and the student strength is 30. So, the teacher & student ratio is 1:6. All the professors hold a postdoctorate degree with several years of teaching and research experience. There are 4 semesters in 2 years. If one would attend the classes on regular basis, then to get pass marks is very easy as it's a home university.

The companies are Dr. Reddy's, Cipla, Sun Pharma, Troika, etc. They gave students an average stipend. In our batch, 2 students got internships in dr. reddy's. They got 10K per month. The roles are like Quality Control Assistant, Production Assistant, etc.

From Last semester students are eligible for appearing in campus placements. In our time that is 2021, there is not a single company visited to offer jobs in our department. But, in previous years Dr. Reddy's, Cipla, Sun Pharma, etc companies visited. Our just previous batch got approx 4 LPA packages on average.

In our time we had to pay only 4.5K (approx) in 2 years. In our time there was no fee hike policy. One can get any kind of scholarship like Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Student Scholarships etc. Students can get internship offers from reputated pharma companies like Dr. reddy's as well as our professors helping us to manage internships and final year projects.

In our time before the Covid outbreak, 2 fests were organized in the month of November and December. The availability of books and journals in the departmental library and central library is truly amazing. The classroom has an air conditioner, led projector, whiteboard, benches, etc. Yes, there are many social groups and clubs for students run by students.
