UGI Allahabad, Bachelor of Engineering - Electronics and Communication

Reviewed on May 20, 2017

Remarks

UGI has two Engineering colleges. One is the United College of Engineering and Research (UCER), Allahabad and the second is the United Institute of Technology (UIT), Allahabad. Opt for UCER over UIT if you have both options available.

Entrance Preview

12th St marks plus the score of either UPSEE or AIEEE rank is necessary for admission procedure to United College of Engineering and Research, Allahabad. You have to pay the application fee online through debit card/credit card or net banking. The admission takes place on merit basis and they do follow the reservation quotas as per rules and regulations of Uttar Pradesh government.

Internships Opportunities

Internship opportunities are not very high due to the lack of heavy presence of large brands/companies in Allahabad. You can try on your own.

Placement Experience

The placement cell makes strong efforts every year to bring more companies. They have in the past, invited companies like TCS, Amazon, HCL Technologies, HDFC bank, Capegemini, etc. for recruitment. The college guides students for civil services exams and for PSU exams too. The college also guides students for higher studies (M. TECH / MBA) in India or abroad.

College Events

Annual Day event is conducted here every year. Plus they encourage engineering ideas related competitions.

Hostel Facilities

They have gender-segregated hostels to accommodate upto 1200 students. The hostels are well-maintained. The canteen food is also decent but more variety will be appreciated. The campus has WiFi throughout the college. There are good courts too. Medical facilities are available, especially so inside the girls' hostels. The students also have the option of using the gym and TV room.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Exam Structure

8 semesters have 8 term end exams. They are well-organised and they are very strictly conducted. No nonsense is tolerated in the exam halls.

Faculty

3.5

They have good teachers and modern teaching aids. They are helpful and cooperative. Their inclination is more towards practical application of what we learn.

Overall Feedback for College - Admission , Placement , Course , Faculty , Events

Likes

the security is nice at my college like proper cctv and guards , apart from that labs , and my dept is too good. Ac classroom and labs
They have provided average placement like most of companies are mass hiring like tcs and accenture ..and only few companies come to offer big package
Infrastructure is good but there is need of reconstruction at some places the water is ticking in rain season continuously, and curriculum is okay okay not that much relevant to industry , they taught text books rather than the real practical cases

Dislikes

The examination checking - the student who is cr or having any relation with teachers got highest marks without writing the answer properly
The food canteen first of all the canteen is off from the past 1 or 2 year and now it reopen but it sells dirty food , waste foods
The college professor support , they are not that much supportive

Course Curriculum Overview:

coding I am interested in coding that why I offer this course It provide some courses but not all courses are related to real world they have to use practical examples and make students aware of the real industry According to me the time and frequency is okay of exam

What I See at SRM Ghaziabad

Likes

I really appreciated the college clubs and hackathons.
There are variety of events throughout the semester, something to always keep you on your feet.
Some of the faculties are really really experienced and have a unique approach that captures the attention of all the students.

Dislikes

Not many hotspots around campus to hang out after classes.
The infrastructure of the hostel can be improved a lot.
Food in mess is not great, the menu is not very diverse. Everything has aloo.

Placement Experience:

Placements are actually impressive with our college having the highest placement rate among others in the region. We usually achieve ~90% placement. We get opportunities from many large groups, such as Infosys, TCS, JPMC, BNY, Logitech, etc etc The list goes on. The highest package that I saw was of around 1Cr from a company I don't remember their name, but it was based out of SF and was a really great one. Average placement we see is around 12-20LPA packages.

Life at SRM.

Likes

A good and friendly environment on campus where students from all around nearby cities and states stay together in harmony.
Interactive classes and faculty is also very supportive.
The campus has all basic facilities from food to stationary.

Dislikes

The food may sometimes be not very good.
The campus has less places to spend some free time other than some spots.
Due to small academic hall places may look too crowded.

Placement Experience:

The placements in the college is really one of the the factors convincing everyone to take admission in SRM ,average package from the college is of around 10,00,000 which is really a very good amount in todays stresfull market.

I really like my college . It is very good college around the meerut

Likes

I liked the faculties of my college they are very supportive and helpful towards the students.
I like the curriculum which more learning based then theory
I like the support that is provided by the college towards the placements of the students

Dislikes

I don't like the attendence system of our college it very hectic to students
There is lot of focus on exam in my college which I don't like
Syllabus are not updated in our college we are studying very old things

Course Curriculum Overview:

I opted for this course because I want to be a software engineer. I chose my course because it was well-informed, and my interest was also in this field from the start. The faculty members and platform were also quite good for nurturing personal skills and making one a skilled and disciplined person in life. I wish this course would focus more on practical things rather than being theoretical. Events, fests, and the campus environment are also very good and pleasing to the eye. Connectivity was also easy from all around the world due to its location. Scholarships were also awarded to almost every student.

Not my favourite, but a decent college

if I say that, why did I choose this college is not that because of I want to do the course, but because of my fashion, that's what I had in my mind, I was always drive with the fact that what computers to how they do how they work and what are the what is the things that make a computer work smoothly so of this course is not a very hi-fi course, but not Course which do not offer even a placement. OBC is a good course it is it is priority. It is My in heart, which told me to take the course and to do good in the future. We all was very nice throughout the admission in the placements with the final year. We are facing good company placements, so let's hope for the best and I wish I get place in a good company with a good package as well....Read More
