Remarks
The admission process for the B.Tech program at DTU is through JAC Delhi Counselling just like there is JOSAA Counselling for IITs, NIT's and IIITs. The first step is to give JEE Mains and after the final result is declared, you will have to separately apply for JAC Delhi counselling by going to their website. 4 engineering colleges in Delhi take admission through JAC Delhi. They are DTU, NSUT, IIIT Delhi and IGDTUW (women's college). JAC Delhi is an online counselling process similar to JOSAA where you will have to give your preference among these 4 colleges and after that, the subsequent rounds would follow. In the end, you will have a spot round if the seats are left. Generally, spot round does not occur online. One has to go physically to one of these colleges which would be mentioned on the JAC Delhi website.
Course Curriculum Overview
The teachers are quite helpful and will help you in every possible way. Almost every teacher has done their Ph.D. and has published many research paper's in the top research journals of the world. The course curriculum is relevant and focuses on making students industry ready. The labs here are well equipped with all the relevant instruments and the students won't find any difficulty here. The level of semester exams is medium and one can easily score good marks if he/she has properly studied and listened to the teacher's lecture properly. Mechanical engineering is one of the most renowned branches of our college. Earlier when it was DCE, all the top rankers of the DCE exam used to choose this branch. We have a lot of tech teams including a team that makes Formula racing cars and they participate at international levels and brings laurels to the college. Our college has one of the biggest biodiesel labs in the country.
Internships Opportunities
There are a lot of companies that come here to provide internships to the students. From the 3rd year onwards, the companies start coming to provide internships. First, they shortlist based on your resume, after that, they have their online assessment round. After clearing that round, they keep their group discussions and interview. After clearing these rounds they select you for the internship along with a good stipend. Some of the major companies coming for the internship and offering a good stipend include American Express, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Sprinkler, JPMC, Airtel, ExxonMobil, Expedia, etc.
Placement Experience
The placement is one of the major factors that make this college one of the best in India. This year, the highest international package offered was 1.84 Crore per annum by Palantir, London. Around 15 students got offers above Rs. 1 Crore. The highest domestic package was offered by Apple at 64 LPA. Around 410 students got an offer of more than 20 LPA this year. This year the percentage of B.Tech students placed was 97.45 % as reported by the university. The average package stood at around 15 LPA. This year, around 394 companies visited and the top recruiting companies were Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, Flipkart, etc. For the mechanical branch, the major recruiters were Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj, Hero, GAIL, L&T, etc.
Fees and Financial Aid
The total fees for the B.Tech course currently are around 8.44 Lakhs but it keeps on increasing every year. However, there are a lot of scholarships which are available here at DTU for students belonging to a lower-income groups.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is quite chill and the college is already known for its best campus and social life. Our college is known for its great fests. 'Engifest' is the annual cultural fest here and is one of the largest fests in India a massive crowd(in lakhs) visits here during this fest. 'Invictus' is the annual tech fest of DTU and is one of the biggest tech fests in North India. 'Yuvaan' is the annual Youth Literature and Film fest at DTU which is one of the biggest in North India and the last fest 'Aahvaan' which is the sports fest. Apart from these 4 major fests, other small fests also keep happening from time to time. The college has a great infrastructure and is spread over an area of 164 acres covered by lush green trees. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled. All the classrooms and labs have ACs. The central library is quite huge and is equipped with almost every book and high-speed Wi-Fi. There are a lot of clubs and societies which the students can join as per their interests.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel infrastructure is above average and the food provided by the mess is also above average and the food quality is okay. The newly inaugurated boy's hostel(A.P.J Abdul Kalam boy's hostel) comes with centralized AC, however, it's on a triple sharing basis. The first-year students get a triple shared room, the second years get a double shared room and in the third and fourth years you get an option to choose a single room based on your GPA (usually greater than 9), otherwise, you would be getting a double shared room. The hostel facility is only provided to outside Delhi quota students and not to Delhi quota students(who have done their 12th from Delhi). For the Delhi quota students, there is a lot of pg's available nearby DTU hardly 100-200 meters away.
