Nirma-The place for excelling!

The course curriculum is slightly on the tougher side, with all the subjects properly aligned according to the requirements for industry ready candidates. The faculty is highly experienced, having industry experience as well. They keep telling us about the various innovations that can be done in the near future and what are the skills required in order to take up a job in the required domain. There are lectures in which there are around 65 students in one class, and in lab sessions there are around 20 students in one batch. The university focuses of hiring teachers which either have completed their PhD, or are currently enrolled with a PhD programme. The schedule of the exams is as follows: Within one month of commencement of the semester, we have the Class test which are then followed by Mid-Semester exams, roughly having a gap of around 1 month and then finally we have the Lab Practical Exam with Viva, and finally the semester ends with Semester End exam.

I am currently in the process of taking an internship. I applied to two companies and gave their first round which is the aptitude test along with technical questions, in the form of a quiz. The companies are Reliance and Amazon. Both are looking for core branch students with Amazon looking for roles in the logistics department and Reliance looking for students who can take up the role in the core sector. The stipend offered by them is between 20k-30k per month and the duration of the internship is around 8 weeks, depending on the availability of the students.

The campus placement facility is available for the students in the university. The campus placements begin from the 6th and 7th semester. Students start receiving mails regarding internship opportunities right from the 4th sem, based on their interest they can apply. The students can undergo any internship programme, by appling off campus as well. Currently the companies which have approached my branch for internship is Reliance, Amazon and few IT companies as well. The core companies in my branch are: Relaince, Adani, Tata, Siemens, Mahindra and Mahindra, Flipkart. Average package is around 5-6 LPA, lowest being around 3 LPA and highest around 10-11 LPA, as of the previous batch. The percentage of students getting placed depends on the number of students who sit for the placement, as everybody do not opt for placement after undergraduation. Roughly the percentage of students getting placed would be around 80-85%.

The programme consists of 8 semesters, with each semester having tuition fees of 94000, as of now. If you avail for facilities like that of hostel and mess, it has different fee structure. At the same time, the university offers an ample number of scholarship opportunities, ranging from that provided by the government of Gujarat to those provided by the University itself. One can find a number of financial assistance facilities based on the requirement. There are campus placement, and internship opportunities also available. The main companies that visit the college for internships and jobs are Reliance, Adani, Torrent, Tata, Mahindra and Mahindra, and Siemens. For internships companies from various domains come up, like Amazon for non-tech work, Technology related companies, and companies that require work in the core sector.

The fest culture of Nirma is at another level. Every week there is one or other fest taking place in the various institutes of the university. There is an annual fest for each institute like Genesis of Management Institute, Cubix for the CSE department, Praveg for the Mechanical department, etc. There is a well-maintained library with full AC centralised. The classrooms are equipped with smart boards along with projectors so that a proper understanding of a topic can be done by visualising things. The sports committee is also very much active in the university. Currently, matches of Basketball and Volleyball are going on for Inter-Department students. There are a number of clubs for one particular department there are 3 dedicated and active clubs in the CSE department alone. The clubs are related to both, cultural events as well as tech/core events. The authorities are actively involved with the funding of the clubs.

The admission process took place in two ways, either from JEE Mains result or the Boards+ GUJCET exam result. Based on these a merit number was released for all the students who applied for admission. Then according to it, the branches were allotted. They also gave the option that whether you want to keep the branch that has been allocated to you or do you want to continue further in the allotment process, in case your branch gets updated. I did not avail any reservation benefits, but there are definitely some that can be used by the students, fulfilling the requirements to undertake them.
