BMSCE, B.Tech, Information Technology
Reviewed on Oct 4, 2017(Enrolled 2013)

Remarks

Finally, BMSCE is the best place to learn and develop as an innovative Engineer.

Entrance Preview

I have appeared in almost all the competitions like BITSAT, JEE, COMEDK, etc. I have secured 1449 rank in COMEDK. I wanted to persue software, and BMSCE provides huge industry interaction, so I chose it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Information Science Engineering is basically industry based rather than research. BMSCE updates it's course structure almost every year according to the industrial requirements. Modern technologies such as Python programming, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, etc are taught.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, the too companies such as Microsoft ( stipend - 45000 pm), Goldman Sachs ( stipend - 40000 pm), Siemens (stipend - 35000 pm), endurance, Honeywell, Amazon, etc. frequently visits BMSCE to hire interns from 3rd as well as 4th year. Generally, hard-working students get PPOs and they are converted into full time.

Placement Experience

5

Placements are awesome at BMSCE for CSE and ISE . Companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Cisco, Endurance, Direci, Nutanix, Capgemini, L&T, TCS, etc. visit every year. Almost 99% of the students get placed. BMSCE allows every student to have one T1, one T2 offer and one Internship offer. Highest package offered this year is 28 LPA by Directi till now.

College Events

5

PHASESHIFT is the technical fest celebrated by BMSCE in which various companies deliver workshops, seminars, talks, quizzes, games, events, etc It is a wonderful opportunity and exposure provided with good learning. Coming to the cultural fest, UTSAV is famous in whole Karnataka. It involves a variety of events and huge participation from Bangalore.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is different for CET, COMEDK, MANAGEMENT students. This year fees for COMEDK was about 1.8 LPA excluding hostel and mess charges. Its actually worth it for the facilities provided.Whereas management fees depend upon the branch you choose and availability.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan facility can be availed depending upon your expenses. However, there are many scholarships available depending upon your performance in 12th, etc. Many people get a good wave-off due to their scores, reservation, other scholarships, etc.

Campus Life

3.5

Campus life is very joyful and full of enjoyment. Gender ratio is well maintained in BMSCE. Boys is to girls ratio is 10: 7. BMSCE provides opportunity for various extracurriculars and competitions which are full of learning and development. There is no partiality related to anything here. All are treated as the same.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility is awesome but it's little bit expensive. Rooms provided are not that worth. Generally rooms are of double occupancy.Whereas mess facility is so good. One can get a quality of food in hostel mess. However the mess timings are very strict.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are very helpful. They don't treat others as their Juniors. They help in achieving the goals and provide appropriate guidance about how to make the most out of the opportunities and facilities the College provides. Alumni network is very strong and various graduates visit College frequently.

Exam Structure

Exams are generally easier than VTU as BMSCE is an autonomous college. Where as the evaluation is little bit strict. BMSCE follows the system of CIE and SEE. Both the marks are combined together to form the final grade. So, an average day in the life of a BMSCian is usually chilled out.

Admission

I took admission in BMSCE through COMEDK quota. It was through manual rank wise councelling. Notification generally releases during early Feb.COMEDK provides choice for both online as well as offline form filling. Around 140 Engineering Colleges are associated with it.

Faculty

0.5

Faculty of BMSCE are not as knowledgeable. Majority of them are PhD but they have very limited knowledge related to the subjects and they skip many new concepts due to the lack of knowledge. They don't follow modern technology and have an old mindset. They are syllabus bounded.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
