Remarks

Madras Christian College is the best college to enjoy as well as study in my opinion. The college is situated in a forest. We can see monkeys and deers roaming around here and there.the atmosphere here in MCC is beautiful.

Entrance Preview

There was not any entrance examination or any written test. The admission was solely on the basis of marks secured in Plus Two or equivalent examination. There was no interview also.

Course Curriculum Overview

The course curriculum is very good in Madras Christian College. In Madras Christian College we are following Choice Based Credit System(CBCS). That is we can select the subjects that we wish to study from the options given other than the major subject.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, there is internship in Madras Christian College... But internships are not in every department...Companies usually select students from B.Com or BBA for internships...there was no internship for my department. So i dont know the names of the companies came.

Placement Experience

3.5

Madras Christian College offers a very good placement and job opportunities... There is a dedicated placement cell in the college which take care of every placement related matters.Almost 200 were placed last year.Companies like Wipro, E&Y, TCS etc came...

College Events

4.5

Madras Christian College is famous for the number of events happening in the college. In MCC there are 6 resident halls and each of the hall will be organizing events in the academic year. Events are organised by various departments also. The major college festival is Deepwoods which will be happening at the month of February.Other major events are Moonshadow, Utsav, Octavia etc..

Fee Structure And Facilities

There are two streams in the college.Aided stream and self financed stream. In Aided stream the fees is annually. In first year we were asked to pay 23000 at the time of admission and thats the fees for the entire year.In second year only 10000. But in self financed stream the fees are paid in semesters. In both the semesters in every year we have to pay Rs.30000

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of Scholarships that is offered by Madras Christian College and many old students. I am not aware of any such scholarships in detail because I have not applied for any of those. But all those informations are there in the college website.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio is becoming almost equal year by year...But as of now boys are more in number. There are a lot of extracurricular activities in the college...A lot of societies, clubs for every interests...There is college union society taking care of all student problems and clubs. NSS and NCC are also there...

Hostel Facilities

Madras Christian College is one of the very few colleges in India following Hall system... The major difference between halls and hostels are halls are run by the students itself.Students will pass the budget for themselves. There are 3 boys hall and 3 girls halls..For boys the rooms are single. But for girls there are 3 in one room..There are a lot of PGs near the college..the average amount will be 5000 to 6000 per month.

External Expense: Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna

Madras Christian College is one of the oldest colleges India started in the year 1937. There are a lot of famous alumnis in Madras Christian College. There was a global alumni meeting last year and thousands of alumnis were there.Since I am staying in hall I have a very good relationship with senior residents.

Exam Structure

The exams are very well organised in Madras Christian College. There are 3 Continouus Assessment tests and the average of two will be taken as Internal Mark....And at the end of the semester there will be another exam out of 100.The average of both these exams will be your marks.

Admission

The notification for the admission was released at the month of April if I may recall...The application was only through online, no offline application. We can apply online by paying an application fees of Rs.100. Two weeks later after applying I got a mail saying that I am selected and you need to pay fees online or in the college before this date...

Faculty

The faculty in Madras Christian College is very good... Majority of the faculty members are teaching in Madras Christian College for more than 10 years or so...So all of them are well experienced and good in what they do...They are very much interested and committed to what they do.

girls to boys ratio is 1:1 is we consider all three branches with some courses with more male while other having for female.more or less the ratio is near 1:1
the most important thing for you is there is close to zero discrimination for you , whether you want to join any club or perform anything you are equivalent to students with others bachelor degree
octagon and library are the two things which are good as library is considered the biggest library among all nit's while octagon having 800 computers for students.NSO ground is also well maintained with the beautiful mig fighter jet to take cool phot

Dislikes

for first years hostel are well maintained if compared with others but don't expect much from hostel atlast this is a government college.in first year 3 to 4 person sharing room are there which was build to carry 2 person.
Quant and entrepreneur thing is not there as you might expect by seeing the nirf 9 ranking but it is not zero .they are growing clubs like profNITT and Sigma are young and they could do better
curfew timing for girls are 9 or 9:30 pm i guess be it any year. for boys ,only freshers have curfew with timing 9:30 pm.other than that any student can't step outside the college after 10 pm without the sign out form.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as maths is the mother of all science and quite related to other fields so it opens a lot of door for me like mba ,mtech ,phd or any other things. this course is specifically designed for becoming teachers so keep that in mind before taking this course as they are not flexible in changing curriculum or adding something for the sake of students as of now. also you will be having more working days compared to other courses with 80 percent mandatory attendance.after first sem you will get 1 week holiday and after 2nd sem you will get 50.days holiday and after first year you can expect 20 days holiday for winters and 50 days holiday for summers. you will get a lot of time to study for exams. before ct 1 you can expect 2 months and then atleast a month for ct 2 and endsems. cons are that you don't have the right to choose minor or electives like btech students.you have to compulsory study all three science .i.e. maths , physics, chemistry.

HIMT COLLEGE REVIEW

Likes

The faculties are very well experienced and there are captains who stay in the campus itself, so if there’s something we need they will be available all the time
The facilitieslike labs, ship in campus, DB tank facilities etc are top notch
The classrooms are fully air conditioned. There’s smart board. Overall everything is really good and also neat and clean

Dislikes

Galley food can improve a little and canteen is comparatively small for such a big campus
They are not conducting intra- college events and inter-college events is very less

Placement Experience:

Placements are really good in HIMT. I got placed in 1st year itself in MOLMI. All faculties try their best to prepare us for the placements and it shows in the placement interview also. Usually companies come for placements from 2nd year but there are some companies who want to take girl cadets 1st year itself. MOLMI, MOLTA etc came to our college for placements. After completion of the course, company will call for induction and accordingly they will call for joining the ship. For finishing the cadet ship , we have finish 12 months of sea time. After that a lot courses has to be done for appearing in 2 nd mates exam.
