Course Curriculum Overview

3

This course was chosen by me as I wanted to further my career in the field of accounting and finance. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:33. The small batch size made it easier to have interactive sessions and we had continuous evaluations with four types of examinations across the semester totaling 150 marks. Students needed 60 marks in total for each subject to pass the semester. Most of the faculty were permanent and had Ph.D. degrees. We also had visiting faculties from different colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for the first year included various one-time payments and it was relatively quite less than other colleges. Various kinds of scholarships were available such as Ishan Uday. EWS students also had financial aids.

Campus Life

5

There were multiple fests organized by different departments or schools. The School of Engineering organizes Techxtra and the School of Sciences organized Insignis annually. The central library had a large collection of books department-wise as well as for general knowledge, fiction, and literary purpose. They also had access to journals online from Emerald and many more. The classrooms were spacious and had all the required amenities including projectors. The students had to mandatorily be part of either NSS or NCC for two years at least. The student council had multiple sports and co-curricular clubs led by students as convenor.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The rooms were occupied by two students each. Facilities provided include individual beds, a table, a chair, a wardrobe, shelves and a common- washroom, a washing machine, and a water purifier. The meals were good and the menu was set by the students. Two students were selected for 15 days to be mess convenors and so on. The process of getting hostels is easy and quite affordable.

Admission

The admission process involved registration for TUET, the Tezpur University Entrance test to be given in the selected venue. After the test, a merit list is released based on a ranking format for all the students, with the students being asked to pay the fees within a given time slot to book their seats. For the Commerce Department, the student intake is 33, with 10-12 students being selected on a rank basis from the open category, 8-9 students from OBC, 5-6 from SC, 2 from ST, and others from various categories like PWD, EWS, Military Background, etc. In case there arises any vacancy, subsequent merit lists are released for the same. Once, this is done, students are called for physical document verification and counseling. During this process, hostels, roll no. etc. are provided to the students with the course structure and other relevant details.
