Remarks

Not many words, but the placement experience was pretty bad with college. I did get to sit in few of the interviews but could not cash in opportunity for a job. I had to struggle upon my own in the end and got my first job after 1 year gap. This is the case with most of my fellow students. Those of whom got the opportunity to get a job through campus placement are doing good in life but it would have been a good experience if the university put in more efforts for the deserving students of the college.

Entrance Preview

IIT JEE, AIEEE , I do not remember the score but it was not impressive as far as I can remember. I did not have much choice in colleges since I was planning to study abroad since my background is from Punjab. :) Lovely was providing good seats and the infrastructure seemed good at that time. Also the college was very near to my hometown Hoshiapur so I opted to study in Lovely Professional University. The buildings seemed pretty good from outside and the feedback for the Degree from Lovely PTU was good. Hence I decided to go with the first batch of Lovely Professional University which did not turn out to be a good decision in the end.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Since ours was the first batch, I suppose a good research was put in from the back end to develop the course . As far as I am concerned the course was impressive. All the subjects were relevant , only problem was that a lot of the teachers were new and had to jug down the subject for the first time and teaching them on the same day.

Internships Opportunities

Internship was good, overall 10/10 for the internship experience . I had to clear the academics exam to get into the Lovely Infotech, I did not the opportunity to work with them later on but it was the best experience. I did my internship at lovely infotech and I have gained so much from my mentors.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I had started the semester with a fees of around 40000/ per semester but by the end of the course I was paying about 60000/ fees per month .This college has its own shopping malls so that the student does not have to go outside the college. If you have some plan and you want to start something on your own, LPU always help you. LPU offers the best scholarship program. Here, the fee for BCA and MCA students is near about Rs. 48000 but due to a scholarship program, I only pay near about Rs. 2400. Very expensive course in short.

Campus Life

2.5

Overall LPU is one of the fastest growing universities in India and it is making its presence felt. Recently, the honorable president of India came for the convocation ceremony. Before that, MS Dhoni also came here to promote his movie. So, big celebrities keep coming here. LPU is a very big platform and I would recommend people to give it a shot. We have DSA (Division of Student Affairs) which organised all the events from fashion shows to quiz shows. From cultural events to sports events. There are like infinite food kiosks throughout the campus to satisfy our appetite. We have Dominos, Pizza Hut, CCD and other major food outlets. E-rickshaws roam around the entire campus. Talking about hostel rooms, they are spacious as well as well ventilated. Geysers are installed in each and every room and yes, the washrooms are attached with the room itself.

Alumni/Alumna

I have been to one of the sessions for the alumni program , it was a hard work of MBA students who pushed the college to provide them with the degree and finally convinced them to arrange a program in Delhi. It was not that impressive except for the fact that I got to see few of my friends. As such there seems to no Alumni network which I am aware of. It should be a good initiative if the college could get us connected. I have shared my interest to join the alumni groups through LinkedIn and Facebook but with no use.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is similar to most of the universities. Good strict exam policies , good exam papers and good results in the end. I did maintain a good score till final semester with self study and friends and professors help. Continuous assessments are an integral part of classes to make sure that students are learning whatever is being taught in the form of tests, term papers, case studies, mini projects etc. MTE and ETE (Mid terms and End terms) are the two major exams that a student has to appear for in every semester. The attendance rules are strict and anything below 75% will put you in the detention list. Academics are of international standards, faculties are very supportive and laboratory courses are properly designed

Admission

I wanted to opt for CSE but since my marks in 12th class was 60% only, they offered me to go for IT stream . Since it was too late for me to try options with other colleges I opted for this stream. All I had to do next was proceed with the fee payment and submit photocopies of the docs required with the SPOC.

Faculty

2.5

As far as I am concerned the course was impressive. All the subjects were relevant , only problem was that alot of the teachers were new and had to jug down the subject for the first time and teaching them on the same day. Apart from them few faculty members were impressive who could teach and others just seemed to pass of their time waiting for their placement offer date or waiting for Visa for overseas countries. We had a small batch of IIT students joining us as Professors who left after completing their internship in the industry. Disciplined nature and to be on time everywhere. I love to interact with students and feel good about challenges that they give while teaching because they let me explore the topic in depth.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
