UBS - The lesser known gem

I opted for MBA entreprenuership as the course framwork is designed in a way to give a holistic knowledge about business and management. The course has wide spectrum of Finance and marketing subjects which would also help during the placements. Moreover, my batch had only 11 students opting for MBA entrepreneurship, thus ensuring each one of us that we'd get proper attention from the proffessors. The proffessors in the university are highly qualified with atleast ONE PhD against their name. Intellectual capital is one of the distinguishing factors in this college. The level of exams increased during our exams. The marking is very strict in the college and getting 80% would make you the topper in the university. The process of examinations are very smooth and are conducted as per the schedule provided during the starting of batch.

The Summer internship experience in UBS is not pleasant for all the students. This is because many students were placed in companies that offered no stipend. I was placed in SBI with a stipend of Rs 15000 per month but it wasn't the same for my fellow batchmates, who found themselves in an internship which offered no stipends. Some of them with stipends had a core sales profile wherein the stipend was linked to the sales they make during these two months.

The campus provides 100% placements on various fields. For the Batch of 2023, a total of 115 students were placed on different fields with an average CTC of Rs 13,69,568 (audited). Some of the prominent recruiters include Tolaram group, American express, Trident, Adani group, Mahindra and Mahindra, EY, TATA Group, Acquity, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, MG motors, Euler, Volvo group, Kornferry etc. The highest international package offered was 58 LPA from Tolaram group and highest domestic package was offered by Trident that is of 35 LPA. Apart from this, students of UBS can also opt for central placement wherein companies like Bain & Company, BCG visit regularly.

Another major distinguishing factor about UBS is it's return on Investment. 3 out of 4 MBAs offered by UBS costs only Rs 19000 per year. This means you can get your MBA from a very reputed college at mere Rs 38k. MBA EP is the most expensive course in the college costing Rs 2.10,000 for 2 years. Every stream has 100% placements both in SIP and final placements. The only problem is that the certain SIPs are unpaid.

There can never be a college life better than one at Punjab University campus. The Punjab university campus is said to have a charm which keeps everyone pulling back even after they pass out from their colleges. Punjab university also has the biggest library in the Union terittory namely AC Joshi library. AC Joshi library is a four storey building with over 2 lakh books. Apart from this Punjab university has multiple cricket grounds, football stadiums, auditoriums, hockey grounds, archery grounds, shooting range, badminton courts, swimming pools etc. The students of UBS have accesss to all these amenities during their course period since it is inside the Ounjab University campus.

Hostels for the UBS students are provided on the basis of their ranks in the merit list. The seats are limited but from 2023, it is expected to change as the Hostel allotment process will be now online and seats are expected to be alloted throughout the year. The hostel would cost a mere Rs 10000 per year for the accomodation and each meal costs Rs 39, wherein we have unlimited ROttis/Rice along with 2 vegetables and salad. The meals are very healthy, delicious and economical.

The admission process in University usiness School, Chandigarh is quite simple. A candidate willing to join UBS must apply for CAT exams conducted by IIMs. The admission process starts with CAT score. The application forms are ussually released in the last week of January and candidates can find this in the official UBS website. Candidates clearing minimum cutoffs will be invited for a GDPI round on campus. This GDPI round would comprise of a 15 minute GD, followed by a personal interview where a panel of 12 professors would be questionning the candidate regarding various technical aspects and current affairs. Once these processes are completed, a merit list is released within 15 days from last date of GDPI. The courses are offered based on the ranks of this merit list. Separate meerit lists for reservations is also released and a major percentsge of seats are reserved for students with different quotas as per the government rules.

During the GD, I was given with the topic "Is India ready for EVs". The group was given 2 minutes to gather points and then the group discussion would begin. This followed with a personal interview round where the professors questionned me regarding my technical knowledge and various current affairs. As far as preparation concern, I just went through a few youtube videos and nothing else, and maybe that's why I didnt perform well in the GDPIs xD.
