Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Well, I chose this course as I was always very interested in computers and tech; so like I was pretty sure to take a course for my grad that would align with my interests. Secondly, the tech domain has huge demand and massive opportunities at this time; so getting jobs is way more probable than other streams. Talking about the faculty-student ratio, it's like 1:10; there are around 1000 faculties if I am not wrong and the total students count up to around 10,000 this year. But that's not a problem classes are divided into sections, each roughly having 60-70 students. Since number of sections is around 100, so it does not cause a great problem. The facilities here are qualified; most of them are okayish but some are really well and have a decent command of their demand. Some will help you really well if you ask them about any project or stuff you're doing. Each semester has mainly 2 exams( mid sem and end sem). It's easy to pass and even to get good marks if you study a little consistently.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internships start from the 6th semester onwards. A lot of renowned companies such as Oracle, Atlassian, Amazon, etc come to the college for internships and placements. Stipends for internships go as high as 12 LPA and as low as 6 LPA. There is a decent opportunity for internships. And companies come with varied roles, though AI and ML companies rarely visit; so you need to keep that in mind.

Placement Experience

4

Students get places from the 6th semester onwards. Many companies visit; the best among them being Atlassian, Amazon, Oracle, and so on. College does advertise of Microsoft and Google have come on campus but I am not quite sure about it but I am pretty sure about the companies that I have mentioned above as I know seniors and have seen them getting places in those companies. Avg pakage is 5-7 lpa. Most of the students who sit for placements get placed be it decent, avg, or poor companies. So, basically, if you are skilled enough, there is an opportunity for you; you can crack big companies; the placement cell of LPU is great they really try to bring great companies every year. But if you are average then don't expect of getting more than 5-6 LPA. My plan is to get places in a tech company offering 15+ lpa; I am working to hone my skills for the same.

Fees and Financial Aid

Well, a fee hike happens but not too alarmingly; I will give u an eg, and you will understand it:- when I came in 1st-year hostel fee was 75,000 for the type of room I chose. The next year, its price was 80,000. so it's like not a great hike. The prices for the mess, tuition fee, and other charges also do hike but reasonably. Well, I have not landed any job till now cuz I am just a 2nd-year student till now but I know a lot of my seniors with whom I was in close touch with. They really got decent packages. Almost everyone got >=7 lac package and one guy, his name Saurav Singh Selakoti got a freaking package of around 34 lac from Atlassian; one guy who always use to study in the Library got 12 lpa , and another got in 14 lac; so yeah there is a decent opportunity if you are skilled enough.

Campus Life

4.5

Well, there is an annual fest that happens around April- May time; both annual cultures and annual tech fests occur during this time. Apart from them lots and lots of fests, and functions continue to happen throughout the year( when I say, 'lots and lots', I really mean it, like every month there are like at least 3-4 major events happening, and singers, comedians do visit every now and then). The library is great. Many books and journals are available. University also gives access to journals online if they are not available in the library physically. The classrooms are neat and clean and air-conditioned. There are a total of 3 playgrounds and a fully professionally equipped indoor stadium including a badminton court, volleyball court, shooting zone, and Olympic size swimming pool. In simple words, the infrastructure is one of the best in this country and you will never feel bad about it thorough out your college life. Plenty of clubs and societies are there, you can join according to your interests.

Admission

The application process is simple. Get to the official site of the university: www.lpu.in. Fill out the admission form for the respective course. For my course, I had to appear in an entrance test - LPUNEST. One gets scholarships on the basis of rank in this test. If you have decent marks on boards like above 90 percent then the admission test is not required. There are some special benefits for people from defense backgrounds or other specific backgrounds as mentioned on the official website. After the exam, the results will be out. One can do choice filling after that. The counseling round will follow then. Once your seat is confirmed at the university, you will get a mail from the university about your university induction date and schedule.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
