An honest review on St. Thomas' College Of Engineering and Technology

I am from the ECE branch not by choice. Like everyone, I was looking for a CSE branch. ECE is a mixture of both hardware and software(mostly hardware). Faculty are not so friendly but they will guide you through your 4 year journey. STCET is very strict in terms of education. All the faculty members are highly qualified and they teach mostly in English and use Bengali in between this is one of the challenges that a non-Bengali will face during lectures. STCET is under MAKAUT University and MAKAUT sets paper in a way that a student can pass with ease and internal exams and practicals are easy too, any student who is committed to a few days of hard work can clear the exam.

Fees for each semester are around Rs 45000- 48000 which varies from semester to semester. At the time of admission, you will have to pay Rs 70000 which includes the first semester + admission fee. There are several scholarships offered in STCET like Aikyashree, oasis, swami vivekananda and NSP.

To be honest there is no annual fest, cultural fest or any fest. The campus is quite fascinating with full of greenery. There's a huge playground. The campus is shared with St. Thomas Boy's and Girl's schools. There are some rules and regulations that we have to follow. Students must be regularly uniformed, no beard rule for boys. Infrastructure is old and considered one of the oldest colleges in India. STCET is very passionate about sports, we have a variety of sports like cricket, and football. badminton, table tennis and athletics.

Admission to St. Thomas College of Engineering and Technology (STCET) is mainly through the WBJEE exam, you have to score decent marks in WBJEE. The opening and closing ranks lie between 5k to 44k. You can get in through JEE mains also. STCET offers five courses CSE, ECE, IT, EE and the newly introduced AIML 4-year UG course.
