What Students Say

Likes

Like the climate and atmosphere for study averything here is green

Dislikes

Dont like the attendance policy of nit Rourkela

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I have chosen chemical engineering in National institute of technology rourkela as i was not interested in coding related stuff and i want to explore different things and nit rourkela provides lots of opportunities for everyone faculty are goods and everyone does their phd and student ratio is around 1:5 exams here are really difficult

Class Size: 75Course Fees: INR 800000 per year

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Internships to get at nit Rourkela is quite tough as it will require to maintain a cgpa of atleast 8.5 and here interview rounds are quite difficult to pass as many students are applying for it to get an internship

Placement Experience

2.5

After 7 semester students here are eligiblw for placements top companies hire from here but they are for top branches i guess not from lower branches highest package was 70lpa and average was 10 lpa percentage would be around 75%

Fees and Financial Aid

Courses here are bit high and not everyone can afford it as some students come from poor background but sc st studuents get highly benefitted but obc and general doesn't het benefitted that much scholarship can also be get

Campus Life

2.5

Here various fests organise every year like innovision netrutsav cosmopolitician etc every sports are here at nit rourkela and various clubs are there so that a student can join rhe club according to his interest.

Hostel Facilities

Hostel facility i would say is pretty decent not that good rooms are quite small they give two beds and two tables meal given by hostel is decent and registration process for hostel was difficult and not that affordable. I live in room

Hostel Fee: INR 100000 per year

Admission

I have given jee mains exam to qualify for national institute of technology rourkela. The admission process of nit rourkela is difficult but it is worth taking. Cut off for nit rourkela is almost 95 percentile to get into any branch

Decent faculty and top tier placements, just follow the rules

Likes

I like the vibe of the canteen and greenery around my college

Dislikes

I don't like 75% attendance and the strictness of the faculty members

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs

Likes

The infrastructure of each campus in the college is very pretty and it's a green campus
The classrooms are well equipped with WiFi, Smart-boards for digital education.
Also travelling from one campus to another has been made easier as buses and golf carts are provided to students

Dislikes

The crowd of students here is too much which feels too much chaotic and disturbing .
The hostel management here as they don't give importance to the major issues here.
The hostel mess food. The quality is degrading day by day

Placement Experience:

The placements of my college is good. This year 75% of the students are already placed with an average package of 8LPA . The highest package till now for this year is 22LPA. Many companies have visited for the placements and 100+ offers have been made. Companies like BNY, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Bain& Company, High Radius, TCS, EY, PWC and many more of them have visited the campus.

Likes

The college campus greenery and campus cleaning management are doing really very well that is the only good part but that doesn't matter much for your career.
⭐⭐There is nothing good to mention about this college after going through all the procedures from taking admission to degree,I regret and many of my friends also regretting taking admission into this college.⭐⭐

Dislikes

They have a good well maintained cricket ground but students are never allowed there only for commercial purposes and to attract new joinee.
Staff and management are very helpful and polite only till admission done.🥲.
Hostel food quality is extremely unhigenic, no one takes responsibility after many complaints also.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum was very classical , too much theory oriented for placement point of view they will provide last 1 month or 2 months training for aptitude part rest for technical you have to study on your own.

They conduct exam in very smoothly manner

Dislikes

Placement opportunities in my college are good, with students generally becoming eligible for campus placements from the pre-final or final year, depending on the course and company criteria. Honest and Genuine review of NIT Rourkela

So I choose these college over the others because of its relevant name and the hype of this college In India as It is Institute of national importance And also a government backed college and it is one of the most demanded college. So the colleges which I have applied to are DTU, NSUT, Nit Trichy, Nit Warangal, Nit Surat Kal And top 7 iits. No I was not rejected from the other college which I have applied to but the combination of branching and the college value Doesn't satisfied me for taking admission in that colleges. So the admission process for the Nit Rourkela Is that the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th class And second criteria is to clear the entrance exam which is the JEE mains and also scoring a very good marks in it. Then by the centralised Josaa Counselling student will fill their choices ,lock and get allotments in the upcoming rounds of the josaa counselling. The ending rank to take admission in this college in the EC branch is about a 6000-7000 rank in the jee mains exam for the other state people. The Admission steps include 1)register and appear for jee mains 2) Get jee rank and register on the Josaa Portal 3) Fill college and branch choices 4) seat allotment in rounds; upload documents and pay seat acceptance fees 5) final admission after physical document verification at Nit Rourkela....Read More

Discovering NIT Rourkela

I chose NIT rourkela based on my JEE rank, as this was the highest rated college I could get.It had good placements, had a high NIRF ranking and in comparsion to my other choices was the clear winner. The admission process takes place through JOSSA counselling for B.Tech.After being alloted a college on site registration takes place followed by hostel allocation and branch admission , a procedure that lasts about 6-10 hours. To avail admission you need to have a good JEE Main rank for which previous year cutoffs are available on the internet....Read More
