Course Curriculum Overview

4

For first year, their are few Basic papers common to all/most branches. Earlier all subjects used to be same in first year but with 2023-24 and next session onwards, students will have to study stream specific subjects. You've to study subjects like Maths, Physics and chemistry which are extensions of your High school subjects along with subjects like Basic Electrical engineering, basic civil engineering , basic ECE, workshop practice etc. Faculty student ratio is high in comparison to school but since many students are absent, it turns out fine. Faculties are highly qualified, mostly younger professor teach the first years. The guest faculties might suck. Professors are a mix bag when it comes to interaction and pedagogy part, some are really inspiring, helpful but others aren't About exams , they happen twice every semester ,One mid term ( part syllabus )one end term exams. For first year, moderate difficulty but also depends on subjects (BEE is nightmare, BCE is cakewalk)

Internships Opportunities

4.5

So there are lots of internship available from 2nd year onwards, mostly paid with some having lakhs of stipend. Also you can intern or work with project under guidance of professors. Like some Civil Professors had opportunity to work in central vista project, my Mech professor gave us opportunity to publish a research paper in very first year and many more such opportunities. The opportunities are endless, you just gotta grab one.

Placement Experience

5

Campus placement is the best thing and what makes it standout from other colleges. DTU ranks among top 10 in India. Students are eligible for placements in final year but are also offered PPOs during internship in 3rd year as well. 400+ companies which includes every big name visited DTU last session, 1.5 Cr was highest with 15 lakh avg. and more than 12 LPA median CTC. Companies recruited in all profiles ranging from Tech, Non-Tech and Core. There's a minimum cap of 8 LPA CTC. Any company offering lesser isn't allowed to recruit. Allmost everyone applying lands a Job. I'm currently exploring all the avenues so hasn't figured out yet where I see myself after I complete my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee is on the higher side for a government college but you can avail scholarship from DTU or Delhi Govt along with multiple private or state sponsered scholarships which cover your full/part fee. Also you can avail bank loan easily with SBI Branch oocated inside the campus You can get Internship on-Campus second year onwards offered by the college itself ( assisting in daily operations in college itself) as well as companies which usually participate in Placements.

Campus Life

4

There are lots and lots of college societies related to almost every field ( multiple socs for many ) along with several tech teams and many of them compete internationally. Many of them are student run but many also gets lots of funding from college itself. Many also have corporate backings from big players as well. Infrastructure is decent, new academic blocks were recently inaugurated, two more are under construction. Although the Wi-Fi at the campus sucks and is limited to only few areas. Library has access to almost all the prominent journals and multiple online resources. There are thousands of books available with online access as well. New classroom are state of the art, older ones are moderate, all of them have ACs. The departments have multiple labs with all the facilities needed, with new labs being added regularly. New 5G lab( funded by GOI) and an EV development centre were recently started.

Admission

The admissions for B.Tech is based upon JEE Mains. Qualification is passing class 12 or equivalent with minimum 75% marks. After you register for JEE and qualify the exam, the next step is to apply for JAC-Delhi counselling (application fee is ?1500) which allots admission to DTU ( along with NSUT, IIIT Delhi, IGDTUW and DSEU ). Once you're alloted seat in the online counseling and you pay the seat acceptance fee (?95000, may increase next year) you've to report for physical verification of documents. 85% seats are reserved for Delhi candidates ( i.e people who've completed class 12 from Delhi irrespective of their home state ). OBC/EWS/SC-ST reservation is also their along with Defence, Kashmiri Migrant and single girl child quota as well. After your admission, you've to pay the balance fee right after your semester classes start.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Jamia Millia Islamia are not too high or too low and depend on the branch. Students can apply for placements starting from their 7th semester. Big companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and some startups come to recruit. The average salary offered is between 7 to 8 lakhs per year, but there are not many students who get higher packages. About 40 to 60 percent of students get placed. Many students also work on getting into higher studies or look for jobs outside the campus after they finish their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.

I would not suggest On Campus placement for this college as the placement cell is not very good here. However one can score a great package if they develop skills in the field of chemical engineering.
