Entrance Preview

i got admission into this college when for 2012-16 batch . I have passed out last year. To be precise i got admission into this college on the basis of AIEEE ranking and on the basis of 12th percentage which was 79.8%. So there was no interviewing process or on the basis of entrance. But persons who secures less than 70% as of now i guess they need to go through entrance test. I also appeared for state level entrance examinations and the branch alloted to me was Electrical in top institute of my state but due to interest on Automobiles and related streams i needed Mechanical Engineering to persue so i applied there and was called for admission process by them. So i finally got into it.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

As i have mentioned from the very beginning i had interest in automobiles and related streams so after getting admissions it seemed finaly to be dream come true. From the very first day what i observed was the very good management system of the university. By management i means you dont have to roam here and there for your work to be done,it is well managed and well guided process amd tou will surely find it out through out your study process. Moreover the course i chose was mostly related to practical knowledge, which i was definitely worried of but once i got there the thing that was worrying me was thrown out and was dumped in dustbins. From the very first week of lecture we were involved in practical learning by assigning to various workshops. They have many lathe machines, for mechanical works , a separate heat and transfer machines and Labs , separate Workshop for material science subjects for eg you would definitely get a training for Casting and you yourself would do it on your own. They even have separate welding workshops where they teach and then ask us to perform. Moreover from time to time different events related to different streams are being conducted for eg i have already participated in 1 international event of gokart championship , 1 each of national gokart and electric bike racing championships. I am also proud to say that i was a part of a team whose project was displayed in International Auto Expo -2014 Held in Delhi. To add more even teachers amd head of departments works closely and supports you whenever you need be it in night if required. There was a team from mechanical department who went even abroad for Baja Racing Championship Held in USA. So in short what you learn you will definitely get an opportunity to express it using your skills in various events. Apart from this from time to time teachers gets involved with students on research projects , one of my friend went again to USA for his publication of research paper and gave a complete seminar for the same. I myself was also involved with one of my mentor to develop an alternative source of fuel which is almost completed and all this could happen because of my mentors. Apart from the core study they have a separate cultural department for culturals affairs. Even they from time to time organise events like Youth Vibe fest , One India so that students can not only excel in core studies but they can even work for their alround personality developments as well. You can be a part of any student organisation if you want to. For eg i formed a Band and was the lead guitarist of it . They even give coaching for guitar , vocals, dances, Paintings, etc that too without charging a single penny from you. One of the student Paras Mann (one of my friend) was selected in The Voice -India this year’s (2017)season and was in the top 5 finalist. Sp you can imagine how well do they suppport for it. If i talk about electives i really donot recall it since its a long time back.

Internships Opportunities

Internship - Yes they did provide but i am not sure how much they pay for it . Usually in the graduate level they dont pay and we are asked either to persue it from university or to arrange a different company of own choice. I did it from BHEL haridwar.

Placement Experience

4

Placement completely is based on students performance and excellence but there were many companies started to visit our campus when i was in the 3rd year of my study . Companies like Bosch , Amazon, Tech -Mahindra,Indian Army,Indian Navy, Cognizant , Everest Industries, Sandhar Technologies, L&T, Unisys, Verizon , HCl technologies, Hyatt Residencies, etc On an average the package was in between 3-5 lakhs per annum

College Events

5

Technical Fests -National And International Gokart Championship, Electric Bike Racing Championship, Glider Making championships etc (all these are related to mechanical departments similar fests were organised for other departments as well) Cultural Fests- One India, One world, Youth Vibe, Band Competitions, Fashion Show Competitions, Singing fests ,Tugh Of War competitons , Inter college and Intra College — football , cricket , boxing, Rugby,Basketball,Volleyball Championships ,and other sport activities like javellin throw , mini marathon, high jumps etc are also conducted from time to time Youth Vibe is a national level open cultural fest and apart from that all are either inter collegial or intra collegial level fests. Complete Support was Recieved from university for all the fests with equal opportunities for all

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fees actually depends on your excellence - My fee structure was 69500₹ per semester and due to my percentage in 12th standard i had to pay 49500₹ per semester. But i guess the fees has been increased and it might have increased ₹10k for each semester

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes they do provide scholarships. I availed a scholarship of ₹20k each semester from total fees. I am not sure about the loan facilities

Campus Life

5

Extracurricular activities was at its extreme. Honestly they will provide you with many platform to explore and rediscover yourselves . I have earlier mentioned it earlier

Hostel Facilities

4.5

yes i was residing in hostel. Usually they have single sharing ,Twin sharing ,3 sharing and even 4 person sharing with attached washrooms woth each rooms. Even the security in hostel was also strong, for a person to enter his own hostel has to go through a biometric scanning of fingerprints and only then they can enter it. Housekeeping staffs usually cleaned our rooms within a gap of 2-3 days. They have a mess in the ground floor as well as a canteen and a departmental store (which is opened 24*7 ). Honestly the food didnt taste that good but yes it was completely hygenic . Well figures have been changed but during my time it for hostel you needed to pay approx 43000 per year and near about 23-24000 for mess facility for 1 year

Alumni/Alumna

They organise a alumni reunion , the recent was held in delhi and prior to that it was held abroad.

Exam Structure

Sometimes it used to be hectic schedule but most of time it was kind of chill culture. They usually conduct 3 class test throughout the semester ,1 mid term examination and 1 final semester examination, but even the class test marks are included in some proportion (best of 2) in the final counting of marks at the end of semester.

Faculty

4

Honestly most of the faculties are higly qualified and usually from IITs and NITs. They are very friendly and very interactive . You can approach them whenever you want in their chambers and clear your doubts and they will surely do it if they are free . And one more thing to add you wont find all the seven wonders of world at a single place so what i mean is that ofcourse not every teacher is as good as the other but most of them (about -95% of them) are very helpful. And tou would barely have to meet them in person because all your doubts would have been cleared in the class itself.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
