Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

I choose engineering because i was passionate about it when i was in school i wanted to pursue Carrier in computer science. In ptu infrastructure and elegibility was main reason i got influenced to take admission here and study computer science engineering. The level of education is good but not that great it can be improved by implementing some major changes like changeing the strict attandance policy and adding recent technology knowledge in syllabus. Also here in ptu there are 2 or 3( optional ) mst and 1 end term exam is taken which is of usually moderate level based on what they teach us.

Placement Experience

1.5

Placement condition is not that great in IKGPTU. The one who got pakage of 20 Lpa are all off campus and those students do not have any connection with placement cell. It is all outcomes of effort made on individual level. From 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement there are some companies who do visit like cognizant, Infosys, tcs, and startups there average offer usually hold at Rs 4-6 lpa and the highest come from cognizant around Rs 12-14 Lpa . After my addmission i have seen a senior from mechanical got Rs 24 LPA off campus and A cse senior got Rs 12 Lpa. But current scenarios are not that positive and vibrant :( . Many students have planned to give try to government exams or take try in off campus or do there own startups. For now thats all i can say.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure of college is simple i can explain you whole for btech in computer science and engineering. Firstly there is addmission fees alog with semester fees addmission fees was around Rs 11000-13000 and semester fees is Rs 47000 per sem of 6 months and then there is a exam fees of Rs 3200 these are mandatory for all students generally but if have availed 25% scholarship or you are a PMS ( post matrices scholarship) student then you can save alot and avail scholarship benefits. Now come to hostel students then you have to pay one Rs 13000 hostel fees for a semester and for mess fees you should maintain a min balance of Rs 21000 at beginning of every semester.

Campus Life

1.5

Campus life is ptu is average not too great not too bad. There are 2 main big feast one is aagaz and another is inter college youth festival which is basically a competition between inter college students of IKGPTU and there affiliated colleges. You can enjoy in campus if you have some good friends. Clubs is ikgptu is not that active but if you want to be engaged in extracurricular then you can do that by being is organising team or in performing team in any fest. Which btw happens frequently of different departments then there is GDSC Google devloper student club which is also is college. Now talking about infrastructure, Library, Sports complexs they all are good i can say you will not do complaint on these things but you can complain for shops or basic photocopy shops or in general food shops they are just 1 or 2 in whole campus which is a huge issue. There is telegram group WhatsApp group and a student run study material resource website available you can ask for that form seniors.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostel facility is Good when you compare form other colleges. Now come on deatails so all rooms are attached with a bathroom and balcony with 2 bed and a chair and table. Hostel rooms of BH1,BH3 are of 2 students and hostel room of BH2 is of 4 students mainly freshers or those who has major backlogs. Mess food is average not good not bad is more inclined towards bad. You can get into hostel will you take admission there is an option to opt-in or opt-out you have to select that while taking addmission. If you want to take a PG in near campus then it is not good but if you want to take anyhow then you can consider taking it in either Kapurthala or Jalandhar, campus lies in between on highway in between both these two cities.

Admission

The admission process was easy and simple when i took admission there was 2 options to take admission one was you can take admission through jee mains counselling and you can take admission through 12th marks, most of students took admission based in there 12th marks. Cutoff was you should at least have 70-75% in 12th or 80 percentile. The main drawback of addmission process is lack of communication between college and students. Addmission application can be easily found on www.ptu.ac.in . therer is also a reservation carterita for students belonging to Punjab or have minimum 80% in 12th. Addmission process usually starts after August and continue till end week of October. Improvement for admission can mainly be they should take a entrance test or some skill test and they should make a transparent admission process with good clarity and communication.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
