Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is not as up to date as it should be. We're following the same course since 2018 and there hasn't been much changes. Although the course curriculum matches 80% syllabus of other universities in India.

Internships Opportunities

3

Students can start applying for placement and internship on-campus opportunities after 6th semester. The internship stipend reaches upto 50000/month if you are a good hardworking student. The degree itself is worth in off-campus market as well so it gives a bit of upper hand in grabbing off campus opportunities.

Placement Experience

3

The placements here is average with average package ranging from 6 lac to 4 lac. The highest package offered during 2023 placements was 19.5 lacs by ZScaler. Several companies visits each year for placements opportunities like Zaro Education, JJ Jonex, Zscaler, eNest Technologies, etc. My personal goal for the future is to grab a good placements from the university as the competition is relatively low.

Fees and Financial Aid

One big perk of joining the Punjab Technical University is that it offers multiple scholarships like PMC, etc. You literally don't have to pay any tuition fees if you fall under the scholarship conditions. The home state students take most out of it so if you're from Punjab and belonging to low income household the ROI would be much higher for you than in other universities.

Campus Life

3

The main campus organizes multiple events for multiple occasions like Youth festival, Vihaan, Agaaz, Incubo, etc. Although there isn't many clubs except a few like GDSC and Bizarre Coders that mainly focuses on improving coding culture and computer science. Libraray has lots of books (including course books) which you can borrow for upto 45 days. After 45 days you may have to re-issue the book if you want to use it further. PTU organizes sports event every year and we have one of the best football, basketball, cricket, badminton teams in Punjab.

Hostel Facilities

3

First semester hostel accomodation fees is 13750 and second semester fees is 11750. If you taking fresh admission into hostel then you have to pay the 3000 rs. which is refundable at the time when you leave the hostel. We have 3 hostels for Boys (I, II & III) and 2 hostels for girls. Boys Hostel - II has 4 seat per room accomodation while BH-I and BH-III offers 2 seaters room with attached bathroom and nice balcony. We are provided with all the basic facilities like water cooler and common room. Students may have to face network issue and WiFi also isn't provided on each floor of the hostel.

Admission

The admission process here is quite simple. Students can take admission in Punjab Technical University by two ways, first way is direct mode in which students have to contact the admission cell of the university and they will guide you through the procedure and intial payment that you have to make. Second way is through online councelling portal where you need to submit your boards marks and other exams scores and go through a councelling to secure an admission seat in IKGPTU and its affiliated colleges

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
