Course Curriculum Overview

4

IKGPTU follows strict guidelines of AICTE and courses follows it completely . The college faculty is very good and classes are very interactive which enhances course experience. The curriculum prepares us for real world applications (like Basic Electrical Energy in B.Tech first semester teaches us how our electrical appliances works etc.) and there are many academic benefits in future like if you want to do masters the courses prepares you very well . There could be some improvements like including basic physical education to promote health of students. Exam are held thrice in a semester two MST(Mid Semester Test) and the final exam there are also practical exams both internal and external overall curriculum is quite decent.

Fees and Financial Aid

College tution fees are quite good which is not very high, because it is a state government University. There is a PMS scholarship program for home state students and also a better opportunity for home state students to avail their tution fee waiver scheme , tution fee for complete course for B-Tech is 4.2L with other compulsory charges.if you are home state students you will get TFW (tution fee waiver) in fee approx half of the total fees and additional benefits when your intermediate score more than 80% (25% scholarship)and 90 &above get (50%)for all states students. Many of the students gets campus placement in various companies.

Campus Life

4

Many fests and events will be held for students like hackathon, dev fest, incubo, and many more .all those fests are focusing to improve students skills and communication like this many groups and clubs are here like cultural and coding groups.our college provides many sports events and interzonal youth fest, athletes game competition like cricket, volleyball, basketball, kabbadi, etc You can join NCC and NSS club also provide there is huge library with all books for core studying and seperate study room ,all labs are available like phy, chem , Electrical, mechanical, and more . Including research lab also .Many class are hitech with smartboard and projecters.College infrastructure is preety good with academic building 2 and 1 main building , 2 auditorium, and 3 seminal halls ,canteen etc and also a cricket playground, basketball ground, indoor stadium.mass and journalism section are also available, food tech and management too.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel facility is very good because they provide a room with 2 students and a attached bathroom in each rooms with a single table and chair, fan ,2 tubelights and almira ,and also a nice view balcony.wifi and elevator are not good.Including hostel there is mess for 3 times meal a day ,meal quality and menu are good enough. You can fill a form and pay approx 17k and 21k fir 1 semester hostel and mess fees respectively. If you do not want to take hostel then you can take PG outside the college nearby place named kapurthala, and opposite side Jalandhar , mand , nahar..both option PG and flat according to you . Kapurthala, nahar and mand are near to college you can come with your personal vehicle or bus or college bus .

Admission

Admission process was quite good I was deeply satisfied and college faculty was quite helpful. First of all to introduce myself I cleared IIT jee mains with 80 percentile (which is average cutoff for IKGPTU Kapurthala) . The college offers a wide variety of courses to choose from (like btech , bca , mca , bsc , msc ). For admission the application process was quite simple , first I had to fill pre councelling form on official website of IKGPTU Kapurthala then after some days I had to fill councelling form(fees -2000Rs) with all documents (like 12 marksheet , jee mains score card , etc). If you are from Punjab you can get various benefits like Tution fee waiver and other scholarships And for other states if you have more than 80% marks in 12th board exam then you get 25% scholarship on tution fees and 50% for 90% marks .Then the result that I had been shortlisted in councelling process and then I went to college and paid the fees to book my seat .My overall experience was quite good

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
