Amazing experience

Curricullum is similar to as any national college in India.Joined this because it is an institution of national importance and i was getting through my rank. In 1st year,the curricullum is trivial for future studies. It is not the fault of this college rather it is the engineering syllabus in all certified colleges in India.But, NIT RKL is known for its core branches like mechanical,electrical for core placements.So i think it prepares us for real time applications. The couse can be made more interesting if the professors have a real time interactive teaching methods.The course should include real life industry experience and understandable teaching methods. Exams are conducted in the form of 1 midsem and 1 endsem in a semester. In a year, there are 2 semesters:Autumn and Spring namely. Exams are of average difficulty level. One can ace it with sincere and discipline self study and by listening attentively what is taught in the class.

Internships are provided by 40-50 percent of the companies visiting for placements.In software SDE interns roles are provided.similarly in core also various roles are offered. projects and outcomes to clarify the tasks are done.

From 5th semester itself, a student is eligible for internships and pre-placement offers are given generally in 6th/7th semester. Many companies visited from tech- Google,Microsoft,Amazon,Oracle etc. from analytics and consulting:deloitte,phone pe,zs associates,O9 solutions,etc from core:bajaj,vedanta,caterpillar,BPCL,HPCL,GAIL etc. from banking: icici bank Highest package offered in campus was around 83 LPA avg package was around 14.5 LPA 90-95% of the eligible students get placements. My plan is to take an incamous placement.

Tution fees has not been increased significantly from the last 4-5 years. The total fees is around Rs 8 lakh for complete 4 years for a general/non EWS student. Different levels of scholarships and financial aids are available for students having family income less than 8 lakhs a year,4lakhs a year and 1 lakh a year. Stipends are awarded to Mtech scholars and PHD scholars.Members of Student Academic centre(SAC) are given some job roles.

Fests like Cosmopolitan-The cultural fest,Innovision-The techno-management fest(one of the largest fest in eastern india) and Nitrustav are conducted in a year.Other fests like celebrity night are also conducted. Biju Pattnaik central library is one of the largest library of odisha. There are thousnads of books from various sections both academic and non academic are available.One can access the libraary through his/her ID card by scanning it. Smart classrooms are availablehaving smart boards,projectors and labs are availabele for various departments. NIT RKL has major cricket grounds,tennis courts,badminton courts,tabletennis tables in individual hostels,volley ball courts and basketball courts.Vriddhi the sports fest is conducted every year where hundreds of students from different colleges of india gather. There are more than 20 active clubs functioning.

You will get two tables ,two chairs,one LAN cable in a double sharing room for boys. Meal quality is good.Nonveg is served 5-6 days a week.Vegetarians may not like the menu because of excessive paneer related dishes. Registration process is very simple.Just fill a form of your respective hostel and verify your crediantials thats it. no not rented any room.

One needs to clear Jee mains with min. 94-95 percentile in general category for getting into NIT Rourkela. You can get the application form, fees and other data related to application and admission in NIT RKL and JOSAA websites. No reservation availed. Jee mains is conducted twice a year. Difficulty level is medium to hard. During admission process, online process was smooth but in offline process, NIT RkL had poor facilities for occupying thousands of parents and students at a time. Although, they had conducted admissions partly in different dates for different branches but still,onboarding process was hectic for both students and parents.
