Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course Biotechnology has a vast scope in this age which was the reason for me to choose it. And in SJU, the biotechnology department has been very good in preparing the syllabus and trying their best to bring it into effect in students. In both theory and practicals, the syllabus is good and knowledgeable to an extent and brings us understanding of the course needed for this generation. It mainly concentrates on helping students learn the subject in deeper way. It includes everything, from the basics to the deeper ones, and to the very extent where you learn to apply the subject in real life. Overall the course, syllabus, faculty is good at the subject. 10/10

Internships Opportunities

2.5

Since I'm studying in the first year, I do not have much idea about the campus placements and internships available at the college. But many seniors have said it that, they've been in a good job, and got good placements at very well known companies. Will share a review once I've been through that process.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college is very good at providing quality education at low cost. The fees structure varies, depending upon the subject or course taken. But the fees is only for the course and there is no donation included, so studying in this college is affordable which is a plus point. I had to pay 82000/- for my course Biotechnology. Secondly, the college offers various schemes and scholarships for the betterment of students. Schemes like mid-day meals, benifits for sportspersons, and scholarships like management scholarship are offered in the college. The college also makes sure every student has a scholarship by educating them about other government schemes and scholarships available. Since I'm studying in the first year I don't know the exact way of how placements, and campus selections are done. But seniors have said it that, they've been in good positions in good companies during campus placements.

Campus Life

4.5

The cultural aspects of the college are very good and engage students with many fests, and celebrations. Visages, Prathibha, and many other major fests are held every year welcoming every other college to take part and many other celebrations like ethnic days, kannada rajyotsava, and other celebrations too take place on the campus, thereby making it a very good college to enjoy cultural life. The library has a vast collection of books, and ebooks available to enhance and bring knowledge to the students. It provides the right for a student to borrow books, provides a good digital library, and a huge area to spend time studying alone or with friends. SJU has been very good in sports and has won many trophies which I've personally seen at the sports block. They have a very good sports team, good trainers and hardworking staff. There are many clubs and associations to be a part of and enjoy the culture. Many include singing, dancing, experiments, etc.

Admission

• Eligibility - 10+2 in any stream of commerce, science or arts. • The admission process is quite simple with applications available at the college website, and applying for a course is a easy task with affordable application fees. Once done, there will be notifications about the further proceedings through their website and mails. And there are entrance exams for some courses like BCA and others while the rest of it are directly admitted to the college after an interview. At last, the list of selected candidates are put up on a list and uploaded on the website.

Faculty

4

The faculty team of SJU is really good in academics with every teacher/professor having PhD as their minimum qualification. The kind of approach they have towards the subject is appreciable and many faculty members of a department are available for students, to clarify their smallest doubts too which makes it helpful for students who are always keen in learning and understanding. Apart from academics, the members have good skills of communication, leadership and mentorship and are good in guiding the students in their educational and non-educational problems.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There wasn't really any. It was mostly the friendliness of the profs that pulled me into maths. Do note that in IISc, the first three semesters are common and you pick majors after that. The maths curriculum prepares you for a future in either industry or academia. Moreover, one can take courses in other departments to help their industry pursuits. Only way would be to make some courses more interactive, but this hasn't been a problem for me personally. Most high level courses have two exams. Sometimes not even that. And exams generally aren't difficult for someone who has kept up with the course.

Placement Experience:

from 6th semister onwards students are eligible for pkacements. I dont know about the companies of placements as iam a fresher here. The placements here are really good in this course. After Msc forensic science the annual package in an average here is 2-5 lakhs. Almost 80% of forensic students get placement here. As iam pursuing my bachelors here, iam thinking of writing the entrance exam for NFSU gujarath for my Masters.

Placement Experience:

Our university has a training and placement office for the fourth and fifth year students. Before that you need to find internship opportunities yourself. The significant companies include EY, MoSpi, RBI, NSE etc. The is around 50% placements. The highest package was around 40 lakhs and the lowest 5 lakhs. I plan on working in the RBI after my degree.
