What Students Say

Likes

Departmental Faculties are really friendly. They are quite helpful in the college attendance and other stuff..
Internship opportunities are quite good someone is really interested.Teachers are quite helpful.
Principal is strict hence academics are given utmost priority. Its helpful for the students who are willing to learn.

Dislikes

Campus is small and surrounded by jungles.Very few shops and medical stores nearby.
No events. Principal is strict so events and shows are seen as a bad thing so this is a major negative point.
Lack of infrastructure. This college doesn't have even 1% infrastructure what a engineering college should have

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Bsc NEP new curriculum is quite good.we have subjects like economics, sociology etc which will help us in the future surely.Engineering students also have these subjects. On top of that we have internship opportunities as well which helps the students a lot.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 7000 per year

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are two kinds of internships.Social and departmenta.social is like going to old age homes and stuff and meeting people there.Departmental one is like u have to go to psu or companies dealing in work related to ur branch and learn stuff there.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure for Bsc students is quite low.But it will be negligible if u have BPL card. For non bpl the admission fee is around 9-10k..for odd sem it is 2-3k.Exam fee is 1600.There maybe other small amount of fees for other stuff.

Campus Life

Overall experience to be honest is disappointing. Infrastructure of the college is really bad.It makes the students depressed. The place is also not very good as it is 15 minutes away from town and not well developed.there are no good shops and stores as well nearby.College is quite average.

Admission

The admission process is smooth. For bsc students go through the Samarth portal and apply. There are 2 or 3 merit list and spot admission also happens. For engineering, admissions are taken based on Assam CEE marks. In general, if you score around 90 u can get any branch in JIST.

Faculty

4.5

Faculties are well qualified I think.A lot of the faculty members have PhD degrees as well. Some of the teachers are doing their PhD currently.Almost all of them atleast have masters degree. They are quite helpful as well.So no issue on this part.

I like the infrastructure of our college.
Our college have enough rooms and halls to accommodate huge number of students
Digitalisation in teaching methods in all classrooms.

Dislikes

Toilet is still not clean as promised by our GS.
Lack of equipments in practical laboratories.
Cleanliness and hygiene are a bit off track.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course i.e. department of Botany because the department ensuring a strong theoretical foundations along with the practical experience. The course prepares well for students as the acedemic results is always good which will make gratutides well equipped for jobs. Some sections of the course should be updated to meet the latest technology, more guests lectures and the interships should be provided to the students. The exams clustering of multiple exams should be within times which relases unneccsary stress, the exams are conducted easy to insane which is very challenging for the students.

A calm and disciplined campus life at JIST

I chose JIST because of its balance between affordability, academic structure and accessibility compare to many private engineering colleges JIST offers a government aided set up with lower fee which was an important factor for me at the same time. It provides a stable academic environment with focused engineering curriculum, other reason was location JIST is situated in Jorhat, which is relatively well-connected and has a calm academic atmosphere compared to colleges in bigger cities. It has fewer distractions and allow students to focus more on studies. The faculty availability and small batch size also made the learning environment field, more approachable than some other colleges I considered....Read More
