Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

The significance of the course in today's time is very important as when the society develops even the crime rate starts developing. The curriculum is set mostly in outdated manner but still efficient to know more on the subject. Since digital is the emerging field it would have been great if there was a great significance on the same. Experiments were good but would have liked a more detailed hands on experience in DNA subject. The exams were conducted frequently with 2 internal exams and a final exam, with it mostly being objective based or experiential questions.

Fees and Financial Aid

We had a lot of career guidance seminars and study abroad seminars but I don't know if anyone of my batchmate has taken hold of it. We did have internship opportunities from the different companies we had signed MoU with. Two of them being Phoenix Company and Reinfosec. We would have hands-on workshop occasionally. Scholarships such as NSP and SSP were present and even feel concession is there based on your marks in 10th and 12th where you need to have 90% to avail it along with distinction in each sem to avail concession for the next one. There were other quotes for concession also.

Campus Life

3.5

The library has good amount of books but preferably I would download the ones from which the teachers used to teach. Actually, our teachers would send reference material on our learning platform and that would be sufficient. We would have department events every month which different departments in campus would conduct and we would participate for prizes.(not from our own department though) There are different clubs to socialise and make friends with many of other people. College day called YenAura would be conducted in March-April and if time permits onam celebration would be there and ethnic event too. On one day of ramzan there would be an iftar meet in the evening in college conducted purely by students. Smart computer and AC are present in every class which gives a comfort during harsh weather. Sports competitions are held college wise every year in Yendurance in Derlakatte. From Badminton, table tennis, football, carrom, chess, and many more. We have lots of opportunities.

Admission

Admission process was relatively easier for me as I went to college for a visit and from there they guided me to all aplication process. Everything was easy and they focussed on my 10th and 12th marks card where I had good marks. For fees in first sem I made a bank transfer and got the due receipt which was then lodged in my name file in college office. After that all the fee payment from course fee to exam fee was done through student portal. Easy and efficient without any hassle.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty to student ratio for batches after mine was good considering there were approx 40 students in batch. But can't be too sure as when I was leaving, a lot of teachers had decided to quit or had already quit. Some of the teachers were approachable and we could easily reach out to them for guidance. The teachers all were goal driven and were aware of different career options we could take and even if different exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

There wasn't really any. It was mostly the friendliness of the profs that pulled me into maths. Do note that in IISc, the first three semesters are common and you pick majors after that. The maths curriculum prepares you for a future in either industry or academia. Moreover, one can take courses in other departments to help their industry pursuits. Only way would be to make some courses more interactive, but this hasn't been a problem for me personally. Most high level courses have two exams. Sometimes not even that. And exams generally aren't difficult for someone who has kept up with the course.

Placement Experience:

from 6th semister onwards students are eligible for pkacements. I dont know about the companies of placements as iam a fresher here. The placements here are really good in this course. After Msc forensic science the annual package in an average here is 2-5 lakhs. Almost 80% of forensic students get placement here. As iam pursuing my bachelors here, iam thinking of writing the entrance exam for NFSU gujarath for my Masters.

Placement Experience:

Our university has a training and placement office for the fourth and fifth year students. Before that you need to find internship opportunities yourself. The significant companies include EY, MoSpi, RBI, NSE etc. The is around 50% placements. The highest package was around 40 lakhs and the lowest 5 lakhs. I plan on working in the RBI after my degree.
