Course Curriculum Overview

4

As it is an autonomous institute its syllabus updates very often as per industry norms. Every course is designed very carefully considering the needs of the industry and can help in competitive exams as well. But there is always room for improvement, rather than being theory oriented teachers should teach courses practical or application-oriented.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Around 60% of students receive internships with an average stipend of 50000. Most of the students receive pre-placement offers. Some of the top companies are CITI, BNY Mellon, Wells Fargo, Finiq, Deutsche Bank, Barclays, etc.

Placement Experience

4.5

From the 5th sem onwards companies offer internships to 3rd-year students and in the 7th sem the placements cycle starts. Every year around 200+ companies visit campus and almost every student who appears for placement receives an offer. Some of the top recruiters like D E Shaw, and Arcesium offer around 50 lakhs, and others like Wells Fargo, BNY Mellon, CITI, and Deutsche Bank offer around 20-25 lakhs. Overall average CTC offered is around 10-12 LPA for the CS IT branches and 8-9 LPA for non-CS IT.

Fees and Financial Aid

COEP is a government institute so its fees are less as compared to other colleges. For the general category, students complete course costs around 4 lakhs (90600 per year), and for OBC/VJNT students it is around 3 lakhs. SC/ST student fees are as low as 5000 per year. As COEP has been given a deemed university status, fees are considerably increased to 1,20,000 per year. Those who need financial aid can approach to Alumni Association which helps students with weaker financial conditions. Also, various private and government scholarships are there such as Schindler, Mahadbt(given by gov of Maharashtra).

Campus Life

4

There are three main fests Mindspark, Impression, and Zest. Mindspark is considered one of the biggest technical fest in India held in August. Impression is a cultural fest held in December and Zest is a sports fest held in January. Along with these three, there is one more fest called Regatta which is more than 125 years old and also known as the boating festival. COEP is blessed with a boat club and hence one can learn competitive level Kayaking, Rowing, and Punting techniques without any additional cost. COEP has a central library and each department has its departmental level library. All classrooms are digital classrooms. Along with academics, COEP focuses on social well-being as well, there are more than 50 technical and non-technical clubs. Students can join them as per their interests and enhance their skills.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

COEP hostel is situated in the center of Pune City in front of Sanchiti Hospital. The hostel campus spreads around 12 acres with ample space. Girls hostel is a single 11 floor building. Each year has been allocated with different numbers of hostel blocks according to number of rooms. Each room has 2 bunk beds, 1 ceiling fan, 2 wall fan, 4 cupboards, 4 tables. Four students can be accommodated in a single room. Each year has its mess with average meal quality. One can register by visiting the hostel office.

Admission

O2ne has to appear for the state entrance exam called MHT CET or JEE mains. One should have at least 50% marks in the PCM group. The minimum rank required as of last year for the General, OBC, SC, and ST male categories is around 296, 407, 3053, and 10578. In general, OBC and SC females are around 276, 464, and 4050 respectively. MHT-CET is considered as medium-level exam as it covers only state board syllabus.

Faculty

3.5

Not every faculty is as good as it should be, very few faculties show involvement in productive teaching rather than just sliding ppts. But some are really good, take their job seriously, and show involvement. Everything depends on your enthusiasm. Some teachers are at god level if you approach them, they will help in your research or in personal life problems as well

Around 60-75% of students get placed. After graduation, i plan to work in software/AI roles and improve my skills through internship and Certifications.

Placement Experience:

The faculty-to-student ratio is about 1:20, and most teachers are quite approachable if you meet them during their free slots. I really appreciate the senior professors in the core departments because they have deep subject knowledge and explain concepts practically. However, some newer faculty members tend to stick strictly to the textbook or slides, which makes the lectures a bit dry. Since the college follows the SPPU pattern. I chose this course after a long CAP round process. Initially, I was aiming for VIT or DY Patil in Pune, and even checked out colleges in Mumbai and MVP KBTCOE in Nashik, but I ultimately landed here at AISSMS. The curriculum is quite comprehensive for building a strong engineering foundation, though I feel it could include more industry-relevant tools and coding workshops.

Placement Experience:

The placments are overall moderately good especially if you are from electrical branches including Electrical , Electronics, Computer, and Instrumentation Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. From third year onwards internship season starts where companies visits our campus and students need to go through online tests and series of interviews for each companies to get offer where the students selected for offer need to attend the internship after the end of third year in may and june when college have holidays. Similarly Based on performance the interns may get full time offer as well. Full Time Placement starts in final year and the process is exactly same where the interviews are mostly online and the students placed gets the offer letter. Almost 90 - 95% of the students especially of above branches gets placed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

So the Computer Engineering is all about core subjects which are really helpful for future like cloud, iot and Database etc But the syllabus of the university change after every 4 years and there is nothing but removing one subject and add another similar subject but I think in era of Ai and automation the syllabus is sort of outdated like if you are getting in Second year you have to learn subject which you have not interested in so you have to learn those subjects anyway and if you want to learn more about new skills you have to do it by yourself.
