Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

I do like to study algorithms which influenced me to choose this course and the curriculum has many flaws in it as in first year they teach physics chemistry and other unnecessary subjects which aren't of much use in real world. I think first year syllabus can be improved for relevant subjects having said that rest of the curriculum is good. Exams are not much frequent as there are only 2 test and 1 final exam at last . Difficulty is moderate for the exams.

Placement Experience

1

After 3 year students are eligible for placements. Companies like TCS and startups do come over here and they make usually less offers. Highest package is of 15 lakhs and average is about 3 lakhs. Approximately 10-20 % students get placements . My plan is to study abroad after finishing my degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee hikes do occur in 1 year approximately and hikes are about 30-40%. The complete fee is 3,60,000 plus 10k admission fee. Post matric scholarship Punjab is available for sc and st students which is fully paid of the whole fee and same scholarship is also available for Bihar students also from their own state government. Few opportunities are there for campus employment and internships.

Campus Life

2

Two fests are conducted in campus one is annual and one is departmental for every engineering department. Annual function is held in September- October. Wide range of books and journals are provided in the library there isn't any book or journal which is not in the library. Facilities are fully provided in the classroom and i have no complaints regarding it. Sports and extracurricular activities are adequately provided but sports facilities are slightly lacking in the campus. There are not much social groups and no clubs are there in the university.

Admission

Eligibility for the course is to be passed in class 12th with PCM and application details can be found in admission portal of IKGPTU online and the when the seat is alloted fee and application form has to be filled on campus. Reservation benefits are provided and admission cell staff helps in it pretty well and they told me everything about the benefits and which formalities have to be fulfilled. Admissions could be made fully online as it would be helpful for students living far from the university.

Faculty

1.5

Very few teachers are actually good in teaching, only few professors know their subjects and others are just reading theory from books in class. Faculty to student ratio is 1:70 Which is below average and teachers are usually very interactive if one are willing to but not much personal attention could be provided by them.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
