Remarks

The only thing I hate is the canteen, out college canteen is not well equipped. There are not many tables. Not so much to eat.

Entrance Preview

Guru Nanak Dev University is one of the best university of Punjab. As it is a government university, It is hard to think about any other private university for engineering. The main university is in Amritsar but I chose Gurdaspur campus as it was nearer to my home.

Course Curriculum Overview

As I already mentioned I have done B.Tech in ECE from this University. The course is not so tough as the syllabus is limited and practicals will help you to get through it. In every two months, there will be a test, whose marks would be included in the final mark sheet. And this also helps you to prepare for Finals.

Internships Opportunities

No, our college does not provide internships. In last semester you have to attend any Internship program from any institute.

Placement Experience

Placement department of our college is very focused on students career. There will be 40-50 companies coming every year to hire students. Before you finish your degree, there will be a job in your hand with a handful of salary. Even if you want a specific company to come to your college, you can request and they’ll do every possible thing to bring that one.

Every year lots of events are celebrated in our university. They are like Freshers party, youth festival, Tech Fest, Sports day celebrations etc. there is very kind of event you expect from a university is celebrated in this college every year. Then there are quizzes conducted.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarships offered. Where poor students can get your education free of cost or at half of the cost.

Campus Life

Life at the campus is always a Cherished thing to remember. There is a green environment. You will not feel any kind of pollution in step you take. The gender ratio is well maintained and I already mentioned about events Conducted by our technicals students society.

Hostel Facilities

As I was day scholar, so I don’t k is much about mess food and hostel facilities. But many of my friends were in the hostel, they say mess food is not good sometimes. But there are many facilities in the hostel. Like wifi, TV, Recreation Hall, etc. There is a lot of parking space and sports complex.

There is a special aluminum portal generated by our college website where you can interact with any senior.

Exam Structure

As I already told, in every two months there will be a test of 20 marks whose marks would be included in your finals. This will be conducted twice each semester. Making a total of 40 marks. Then at the end of your semester, there will be a final exam of 50 marks. Making a total of 90 and rest 10 is based on your behavior.

Admission

Admission criteria change every year. I took admission in B.Tech ECE in 2014. At that time, GNDU conducted counseling which was based on the JEE Mains and based on the marks a merit list was generated. According to the merit list, they called students for counseling.

Faculty

Faculty of our college is good. Most of the teachers are Ph.D. qualifiers. But not all of them are good at teaching. Some teachers are like, they will come and open a PowerPoint presentation and show you some slides and that’s all. But then there are some teachers who are good at teaching. Teachers are always available for you to help you out. Even in college or after that.

Exploring life at Chandigarh University

Likes

Good and modern campus infrastructure. The university is large, modern with good classrooms, labs, hostels and tec.
Most teachers are knowledgeable, supportive and explain concepts clearly.
The university provides placement drives, training sessions, career guidance and etc.

Dislikes

Large student intake. Due to high number of students, sometimes it can be difficult to get individual attention from faculty.
During peak hours, some areas of the campus can be crowded.
The quality of hostel food is not much satisfying.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Chandigarh University are generally good, with students becoming eligible for campus placements in the later semesters, dependiing on their course. Many companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering roles in IT, engineering, management and other fields. The packages vary by company and profile with some students receiving high packages while others get average entry-level offers. Placement opportunities depend on student skills, academic performance and interview preparation. After completing my degree, I plan to secure a good job in my field, gain practical experience and continue developing my technical and professional skills.

Likes

The most appreciated aspect was the quality of teaching in classroom. There were structured planning for studies and exam preparations.
The campus was peaceful and the college celebrated every cultural event very enthusiatically covering interest of students belonging from various traditional backgrounds across India.
There was wide spread interest both from students and faculty side for promoting extra cirricular activites and talent.

Dislikes

The way a student raises a complain can be improved.
To allot extra hours for extra acirricular activites.

Placement Experience:

Placements are great for tech and core domains. Alomost every students gets to sit in placement following the eligibilty critera. Many students get double placed and there is a placement policy which allows fare chances of placement to every student.

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time
Placement is decent and average as like other collage

I like my couse btech with computer science because it has high change to geeting high paying jobs and to build a successful career with my opinion they can improve their faculty with higher education qualification

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

I applied for vit vellore , bits . They had very hefty amounts of fess. Which i might not afford. Thats why i did not take admission in these college . My 4 year fees is their aunnal fees. I cleared the exams of vit and bit. For financial reasons i did not take admisison . For other courses rather than btech the college tame entrance tests . For btech jee mains is preffered . The cutoff generaly goes till 85% . There is also a managemnet quoto. Please dont make this statement public. Instead of 130000 they take 300000 for a year in fees....Read More

GNDU gurdaspur experience

The admission process at main campus is based on jee mains ranking. However if you couldn't get a seat there then you can definitely get a seat here with some decent marks in 12th exam. The reasom to choose this college is you are still part of GNDU Amritsar and can avail those services to your best. Your degree will hold some value better than some local college. The university is associated to government and thus doesn't bother you unnecessary for money as some private universities are reputed to. That is enough reason to choose it over than a local college.the usual cutoff of admission is around 2-2.5lakh based on jee mains. But this is increasing day by day based on increasing competition. My experience with college

This college was near to my house and it didn't took a lot of time to reach there that's why this was very convenient for me so I chose this college . I didn't applied in any other college nor did I availed any quota while admission . The minimum marks required for my course was 60% and I had attained more than 90% so I didn't faced any issue while admission. There was an entrance test and a counselling session as well. The entrance test was not so tough according to me and I was able to clear it easily. The counselling day was an interesting one as it was my first time experience.
