What Students Say
Likes
- The Courses provided and its content is pretty useful
- Exams procedure is also convenient and is held every semester
- The practicals taught is really helpful for future learning and practice purpose
Dislikes
- Time intervals between each semester should be strictly 6 months but we barely get 4 months before the next semster exams, hence not much time for exam preparation
- There is only one or two days gap given between each consecutive exam, hence lack of time to prepare
- Often out of syllabus questions are given on the paper, and since we can't answer it, we loose marks
Course Curriculum Overview
I wanted to pursue psychology, particularly the clinical aspects of it, hence this choice of course is apt. for me. It teaches us the basics of what we will learn in masters and hence makes the foundation of knowledge strong for future learning and clinical practice. The course difficulty level is intermediate and frequency of exams is 6 times in the whole 3 years(6 semester exams each in 6 semester). It would be more convenient if classes were held more regularly and through visual technology
Fees and Financial Aid
In Muralidhar Girls college (under Calcutta uni)my Total fees for 3 years is approx 50,000 for my cbcs curriculum that is Bsc hons in psychology. The yearly cost would be around 16,500 and semester wise its around 7000 per semester approximately but keep changing according to the side elective subjects and papers. Scholarships like kanyashree (rs- 20k - 25k total), swami vivekananda scholarship (12k yearly for 3 years) etc are available for female students which is given in all government schools and colleges in West Bengal.
Campus Life
In my college there are some yearly fests and freshers and farewell parties, but apart from that social life is technically non existent. But in other colleges like Ashutosh college (also under Calcutta uni) campus and social life is overly present all time. Colleges conduct yearly sports and other extracurricular activity competitions and programmes. NCC training is available in all colleges under Calcutta uni. Student politics and party groups is more or less present and active in every college. Libraries are mostly stocked and efficient.
Admission
Generally 10+2 marksheets and pass certificates are required with a certain percentage (cut off marks varies every year in the different colleges under Calcutta uni). Reservation benefits are available for sc, st, obc, physically disabled and reduction in cource fees are available for students coming from below poverty line. College application form and fees structure, course details are available in calcutta university's website and in the respective college websites too. Admission process is okay for the most part but could be certainly improved.
Faculty
In my college, faculty is quite efficient and friendly for the most part, but they often cancel classes at the last moment without informing anything prior which often causes students a lot of inconvenience as some of us come to college after travelling for hours.
Other Applied Colleges
NSHM Knowledge Campus | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Psychology)
Unsuitable and inconvenient course
