Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is pretty relevant and up to date. In 2023 there was an implementation of new scheme. The syllabus will prepare you for exams like GATE and also helps in your job in the industry. Teaching is in conventional classroom method, which could be improved. The exams get more difficulty year after year. Exams are semester wise and conducted every 4-6 months. Exams are difficult, but students could manage of they keep track during the course and prepare by the end.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship offers are not very difficult to acquire as the Campus is in the heart of a metro city. Students get referals from seniors and alumni. The faculty also helps with getting internships. There is an opportunity to visit Japan for internship for selected students.

Placement Experience

3

The placements at CUSAT is pretty good compared to it's peer colleges. Students become eligible for placement by 6th semester. The highest package offered is 24LPA. The average packages are offered by service based companies like TCS Infosys, etc, which offered 4-6 LPA. Around 60-70% of students who has no backlogs get placed. IBM, Cisco, TATA ELXSI, Infosys, TCS, Reliance etc are some famous companies that visit the campus. Around 300+ offered were made for BTech students. The profile offered by most companies is Software Engineering and Cisco offeres network engineering

Fees and Financial Aid

111760 is the fee under All India Merit. For state Merit, it's 64000rs per yr. For SC/St students, only caution deposit is required. They'll also need to to apply for the state government's EGrantz scholarship for this fee waiver. Remeber that it's only for SC/ST students from Kerala. The state government offers EGrantz scholarship, post metric scholarship and few other scholarship. The course topper at the university also receives scholarship.

Campus Life

4

The social life is amazing at CUSAT. A lot of events are carried out every year. There's always something going on every week. Most classrooms has a smart board. The rest is like a conventional classroom. A lot of clubs and groups are present in campus, including Tinkerhub, a space for technology and events. Sports and extracurriculars are great with support from seniors and faculties. The university library is massive with a lot of research papers and books. There are facilities for students to study, like the lounge, with AC and Wi-Fi facilities.

Admission

All admissions are carried out in the basis of CAT score, and exam conducted by Cochin University. The reservation seats for SC/ST which are not filled even after multiple spot admissions will get transferred for admission based on other criteria. Personally I didn't write KEAM, the Kerala engineering exam, which gives me entrance to most engineering colleges in Kerala. I had only written the CAT exam, and when I realised I had enough rank to get CSE, I joined CUSAT. The admission process is like every other college. Fee payment and all are through website. Document verification and fee payment are the major parts in the admission process. There will also be a biometric verification.

Faculty

4

The faculty to students ratio is average. Faculties are friendly and helpful. Each department has got good faculties who'll help you with anything outside the syllabus and also your extra curriculars. There is semester exams and internal exams, both are of moderate difficulty. The syllabus is claimed to be at par with NITs and has a Tier 1 rating. The course curriculum is very relevant with frequent updates. 2023 saw a change in scheme of syllabus, making internship compulsory in every year.

Placement Experience:

Upon reaching s7 students are invited for campus placement but they have to pass different criteria to become eligible for attending the interview, a minimum cgpa of 7.5 and academic skills a these are the basic requirements and an aptitude test will be given and in further selection these criteria are looked. I plan on pursuing a job after completing by btech. More than half the students in a batch are getting placed usually.
