Course Curriculum Overview

4

Computer Science has become the most desired course in recent times and this was one of my reasons to choose this course. The university keeps updating the curriculum like in my first year they were teaching C and Cpp. But now they have started teaching Python from the first semester which I think is a great decision as Python is easier and important to learn rather than wasting time in learning C. There are frequent exams like after 8 to 11 weeks of starting of a semester mid term exams will be held which will obviously help you to cover half of the syllabus before the final end term exams. One thing which they need to improve is updating their platforms on which hands on practicals are done in the class. As these platforms are actually boring and not so much interactive. LPU should also revise the class timings as the same subject is being taught for straight 2 hours which becomes quite boring.

Internships Opportunities

3

Maq sofwares arrived for campus drives and offered 32K stipend to 30 students. KPIT offered an internship to 60 students and the stipend was 25K. Most of the internship provided were for non technical roles which is of no use to computer science students.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for placements after their 5th semester and lot of companies visit our campus. Companies like KPIT, cognizant, dxc technology, Tech Mahindra, Cleartax conducted placement drives in our campus for the software engineer role and generally the package offered was in the range 4 to 8 lpa. And then there are mostly non tech roles offered via different companies to even cse students. 2024 was the worst year in terms of placement as per my knowledge.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee per semester - 68000 Hostel fee for full academic session -72000 Examination Fee- 2500 per semester Students can opt for lpunest and they can get scholarship upto 35% of their tuition fee on the basis of their lpunest scores.

Campus Life

5

The library of LPU is one of the best I have seen in recent years it is a 3 storey library and it is fully air-conditioned and the number of books available in the library is just mind boggling. There are several student run cultural groups in our campus and they get ample opportunities to organize events in the campus. Even the LPU authorities provide funds to the groups and encourage them to organise events. In April 2022 a concert of Diljit Dosanjh was held in our campus just in the playground behind my hostel and it was awesome. Coke studio organised a dj night on 7 nov 2023 where Asees Kaur performed so life is very happening in LPU

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel Facilities are very decent. Room cleaning is done on a regular basis and you even have a feature of RMS where you can just mention your issue and it will be resolved as soon as possible. Geyser is provided in the room table chair is there the food in the mess has improved significantly in the past years. But if a student is opting to live outside the campus there are very limited options as the nearby area is called lawgate which is just awful you can search for lawgate lpu on YouTube and look for yourself.

Admission

I applied to GLA, Mathura also and I got accepted there also but my friends and family suggested that LPU is a way better university in terms of exposure and placements. So I decided to get admission in LPU. The students can give the LPUNEST exam after getting marks above the cutoff they'll get the admission and if there score is good they'll also get a scholarship for the tuition fee and at the time of my admission the university provided scholarship based on the percentage of the student in 12th class. Like I got 30% scholarship for my tuition fee as my percentage was above 80. For above 70 the discount was 25% and above 90 was 35%.

Faculty

4

There are around 500 faculties in the university. I am not sure about the exact number but there is an ample number of faculty. The course structure is great and it is updated every year in order to be relevant with the market needs. The faculties provide their office room numbers and wherever they are available students can visit them and get their queries resolved. There are 3 class assessments a mid term and a end term exam for each subject per semester. The difficulty of exams are moderate if a student is paying attention in the class then even a below average student can easily achieve passing marks. And if a student fails in an end term exam then they will get 5 reappears in the upcoming semesters they can give a amount of 700 which is the re exam fee and they can pass the re exam. If the student is unable to pass the exam even after giving 5 re exams of the same subject then they will get a backlog. So in my opinion the re exam feature in LPU is a very good initiative to avoid students from getting backlogs.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
