Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course curriculum, that is BTech in Mechanica Engineering turned out to be a goood decision of my life, as Mechanical engineering is something that I am very passionate about, and getting the knowledge and exposure in the field, be it course curriculum, internships, research papers, or projects is very satisfying and upto the mark. There could be slight improvements like removing the 75% attendance criteria, which I think is not necessary, but not everything is perfect. Also the process of submiting the affidavit or medical if someone has low attendance and wants t give the exam is quite tedious and exhausting.

Internships Opportunities

3

Various companies like AMEX, DeShaw, Google, Amazon, Uber, and many other came for the internship with a stipend of around 30000 to 120000. AMEX, Wells Fargo, Amazon etc. came for the non tech role, while rest came for the tech role. The tech companies do allow core branches so do the non tech ones, but no company exclusively comes for core like the automobile companies.

Placement Experience

5

The placements are between average and good. There are total 300 companies that come for placements. The core companies usually come at around 8 LPA to 15 LPA, and th tech companies come at 15 LPA to 45LPA. The non tech companies come at 10 LPA to 25 LPA. Students become eligible for placements from 7th semester. The placements season lasts for 144 days. The students become eligible for internship form the end of 4th semester. My plans after getting the degree are two way. The short term plan is to do a job in core and in the long run, build my business.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees is 219000, for two semesters. If a student gets a backlog in a course then he/she has to pay 7000 for re registration in the regular semester or 14000 for re registration in the summer semester. If the college is not running that course for some reason, then the student can pay around 100000 to the uni for starting the course exclusively for him in order to cover the faculty expense. The year wise fees increases marginally, like 219000 for the first year, 225000 for the second year, 231000 for the thirs year, and 240000 for the final year. Though the final year does not have any core coureses, yet the fees is to be paid, because of the ED and EO courses. The SC/ST category students can get fees relaxation on presenting their situation/condition in front of the academic wing. The uni also provides scholarship of 65000 to the student who achieves the maximum GPA in consecutive two semesters/

Campus Life

5

The overall experience in the campus life from club invlovement, infrastucture provided, and the social aspects is quite good. We have our annual cultural fest Moksha and Resonanz, where Moksha is for all college students, and Resonanz is exclusively for NSUT students. The studens themselves gather all the fundings, contact the artists, and ensure that the fest is conducted properly. The sports and extra curricular activites are also good.

Admission

The thing that influenced my decision was the location. NSUT is like 5kms from my home and it influenced my decision greatly, moreover I was getting the branch I wanted to study. I didnt join VIT, Manipal because I dont like south indian food to much. And in IIT I was getting marine engineering, a branch which I am not very passionate about. The admission process of my college is quite simple for BTech. You give a govt. entrance exam named JEE Main. Afer securing a good rank and percentile, you sit in the JAC counselling and get alloted the branch.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio in the theory class is 1:70 and in the practical class is 2:35 generally. The course curriculum is quite relevant and upto the mark when compared to what the industry needs and what is being taught. All the fundamental concepts are cleared by the college faculty. Regarding exams, the schedule for exams is like there would be mid sems, and end sems. Between the midsem and endsem, there would be regular class tests or assignments depending on the professor's choice. On average 1-2 students fail in every course due to lack of study. The GPA is awarded to students on a relative basis.

Night Life

2

There is not much concept of night life in the campus as day scholars are denied entry after 8pm in the campus and hostellers are forced to stay in hostels after 10pm, and the timings are same for all year students. Famous hangout places in college is the AMUL store and SC(Student Centre). Vegas Mall is also walking distance from the campus, so most people hangou there.

Other Applied Colleges

Vellore Institute of Technology - [VIT University] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Got a better college.

Manipal Institute of Technology - [MIT] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Got a better college

BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) | Master of Science [M.Sc] (Chemistry)

The branch was not the one i wanted to pursue.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Jamia Millia Islamia are not too high or too low and depend on the branch. Students can apply for placements starting from their 7th semester. Big companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and some startups come to recruit. The average salary offered is between 7 to 8 lakhs per year, but there are not many students who get higher packages. About 40 to 60 percent of students get placed. Many students also work on getting into higher studies or look for jobs outside the campus after they finish their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.
