Remarks

College life is very crucial for the growth of any individual. So one should select the college very carefully before taking admission. Same way the college faculty should also try to make every effort to make the education easy to understand, inexpensive and enjoyable.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Course is difficult but in demand due to the nature of job and the vast growth perspective it has. Exam structure consists of eight semesters with exams after each semester. One needs to clear the exam at each stage to move to higher semester.

Placement Experience

1.5

In terms of Placement and opportunities, the college lag in big way. Their tie ups with several companies are just on paper but in real life scenario students have make own efforts in getting a single job. They don't even provide any internships either.

College Events

3

Events include Sports meet, Annual function, Freshers Party etc. They also conduct several other events such as event to fight Drug menace, social awareness on different causes, quiz for current affairs etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee structure is on higher side. Given the fact that in this country if one comes from General category you're considered to be born with a silver spoon and will have to empty your pocket at eac stage to fulfill your basic needs only. So it's not only in this college but everywhere in education sector one can find that. and if you can't afford to pay that much amount than you have to live a life of misery for the rest of your life as you'll be considered illiterate with a tag of Hindi School ka bacha.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college themselves do not offer any specific scholarship but students can take benefit from various government funded scholarship programs. I have heard about the people of Kashmir, sikkim used to get scholarship for getting education which was not available for everyone.

Campus Life

4

The college has a good infrastructure for labs and they offer good opportunities for students who want to learn in academics. As for sports is concerned they have facilities which are considered pretty decent if not good.

Alumni/Alumna

The college like other colleges has a mix of good and bad students. As per our college, we had good students who were helpful to some extent. Their were students who took ragging too which was at its peak at the time.

Admission

I applied for AIEEE and than got admission. Overall it was a difficult process to get admission in my selected course due to hight competetion but i made through cos of my marks in entrance exam. The admission process is a tricky process where few people get through easily due to the reservation policy which is affecting the youth since past many years.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty is highly qualified with a friendly approach to make the college life easier. Some teachers do not possess the same approach though but overall in this education system one person can't affect the whole process.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Chandigarh Group of Colleges - [CGC] Landran, Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
