Likes

The environment of our college is decent.
Gender ratio in our college is also good .
The faculty here are very supportive and helpful.

Dislikes

There is shortage of books in the library and the books are old fashioned and not updated.
They ask for semester and hostel fees four months before hand.
Hostel and mess food is very average and sometimes it goes below that level also.

Course Curriculum Overview

Our degre is under IKGPTU and university's cpurse curriculum is followed. The curriculum is good enough and includes subjects that has some practical usage. For example,subjects like DSA in 3rd sem are very important from placement point of view .C,C++ in the first year and JAVA with DSA in the 5th sem are some of the important subjects.

Class Size: 60Course Fees: INR 132000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The college fees for 1st year is 66650/sem (semester fees only).The hostel fee per semester is 55000. Our college provides scholarships upto 100 percent off and minimum student gets 50 percent scholarship and they get 50 percent discount on tution fees.

Campus Life

My overall experience with college life has been fulfilling.Annual freshers party,Tech fest in the month of september to october and many festivals are celebrated every year.Every block has a library and all curriculum books are available but they are not updated and have older versions of the books. Our college supports all the sports activities and also arrange an annual sports meet .Sports like cricket ,Football ,Badminton, Baseketball etc are also supported.Clubs in CGC jhanjeri - NSS Club ,Rangmanch-theatre club,Rockers-the dance and music club,CGC fitconnect-The fitness club ,c-click- The photography club, Mind benders-the literary club, Art masters-The fine Art club,Socialcom-The social media and digital marketing club,Fashioninsta club and GDG and GFG chapters.

Admission

I have a friend studying in the landran campus and he also got placed with a good package in 2023 from the campus.So he helps me alot in making my decision and when i searched about this college after the recommendation i found out that the college is offering very good placements in that fees which is very economical. The college gives you good exposure and opportunites and if you have done the hard work in your 4 years journey then you can get a good campus easily.

Faculty

The student to faculty ratio is approx 20:1,so there are many teachers with whom we can interact and ask doubts .It depends in the teacher if he is willing to solve your problems. Some teachers are more approachable and they are ever ready to solve all kinds of academic related doubts.There is are also teachers whose teaching style I did not like because they come in class,they dictate and go back.

Night Life

Boys are not allowed to roam outside the hostel after 10pm and college is located on the outskirts of the mohali which is very far from the main chandigarh city and does not have any happening place around the campus.

Exploring life at Chandigarh University

Likes

Good and modern campus infrastructure. The university is large, modern with good classrooms, labs, hostels and tec.
Most teachers are knowledgeable, supportive and explain concepts clearly.
The university provides placement drives, training sessions, career guidance and etc.

Dislikes

Large student intake. Due to high number of students, sometimes it can be difficult to get individual attention from faculty.
During peak hours, some areas of the campus can be crowded.
The quality of hostel food is not much satisfying.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Chandigarh University are generally good, with students becoming eligible for campus placements in the later semesters, dependiing on their course. Many companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering roles in IT, engineering, management and other fields. The packages vary by company and profile with some students receiving high packages while others get average entry-level offers. Placement opportunities depend on student skills, academic performance and interview preparation. After completing my degree, I plan to secure a good job in my field, gain practical experience and continue developing my technical and professional skills.

Likes

The most appreciated aspect was the quality of teaching in classroom. There were structured planning for studies and exam preparations.
The campus was peaceful and the college celebrated every cultural event very enthusiatically covering interest of students belonging from various traditional backgrounds across India.
There was wide spread interest both from students and faculty side for promoting extra cirricular activites and talent.

Dislikes

The way a student raises a complain can be improved.
To allot extra hours for extra acirricular activites.

Placement Experience:

Placements are great for tech and core domains. Alomost every students gets to sit in placement following the eligibilty critera. Many students get double placed and there is a placement policy which allows fare chances of placement to every student.

supportive campus environment with the comfortable in the classess
faculty most faculty members are very much supportive and they guide the students in the right way only
events are there in the campus provided by the campus.

Dislikes

limited practical exposure is provided by the campus and also there should be more hand on international events

Placement cell provides opportunities but the stronger industry connections.

placements at my college are very very good, as everybody gets the chance to sit for the placements at the same level. we get the placement oportunities at the 6th semster also. in my brancg it is very good

class size can be large , it helps every child to interact
academic work is quite high , the schedule may feel hectic especially during examination

There are 1 AC Lecture complex()LT with almost a seating capacity of 100-120 students, with smart screens and projector.
NITJ has well maintained 4 Girls hostel and 4-5 boys hostels with proper cleanliness and hostel staff.
They are 7 cafeterias in the Campus, including 3 Nescafe outlets,1 dominos and 3 regular canteens that serve food late night.

Dislikes

Wifi and connection issues in the hostels
Slow response to emails and late approval to applications
The ICE department faculty is quite strict. Tough grading system and administration.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Likes

I like the most about the college the placement criteria and the way built your confidence
Also the hostel is very good and provide food 4 times
The campus explorer is also very nice according to me

Dislikes

Faculty is not soo well had a lit bit inconvenience
Hostel mess food is not good at some time
Placement is decent and average as like other collage

I like my couse btech with computer science because it has high change to geeting high paying jobs and to build a successful career with my opinion they can improve their faculty with higher education qualification

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.
