Course Curriculum Overview

3

I had psychology as one of my core subjects in 11th and 12th grade. I've always been interested in psychology and wanted to pursue a career related to this field, this course seemed to have what i was looking for, such as the subject of bio psychology, introduction to clinical psychology, clinical skills etc. The lectures always make sure to give a number of opportunities to grow. we have Self directed learning often on certain subjects. we are regularly asked to research on a topic ( in psychology) and make notes on it. i believe the teaching methods have been wonderful so far, it'd be nice if they take it a little slow though, some of the topics are very similar and could seem confusing.

Internships Opportunities

4

As i am a first year student, im not well informed regarding the internships provided. Clinical psychology course doesn't provide internships for months like the other courses. we have observer ship for 3 weeks.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total fee for the course B.sc in clinical psychology is Rs 3,84,000/-. The fee is structured in instalments as follows: 1st instalment= Rs 1,29,000/- 2nd instalment= Rs 1,00,000/- 3rd,4th,5th and 6th instalment= Rs 38,500/- each. Scholarships are available based on 12th grade board marks. Students who have scored above 90 percent may be eligible for a concession, which could either reduce the second instalment or potentially cancel the 6th instalment. However, the scholarship amount and criteria is subject to the institutions discretion. As a student from karnataka, my course fees are comparatively lower than that of NRI students. For students opting for hostel facilities, the accommodation options are as follows • 6 sharing- 60,000/- per annum with an increase of 5 percent every year • 4 sharing- 90,000/- per annum with an increase of 5 percent every year. Additionally a non refundable admission of Rs 26,000 is required. Pls note that these details could change

Campus Life

2

As we are a allied health program, we don't really have many events, we have culturals once a year where there are competitions and cultural activities for a week. We also have the " astra " which is a national level inter collegiate for Cultural events and sports. We also regularly have awareness days depending on what days falls on the calendar. our library provides a wide range of books and research papers on various fields and courses. The classrooms are well established with AC and BenQ boards. Extracurricular and sports activities are open to all who are interested. we have respective lecturers to look after this. All the students of allied health science of first semester are in the NSS ( national service scheme ) by default. i am also in the psychology clubs, we don't have many options clubs wise

Admission

I did not apply to other colleges, although i did want to apply in Roshni nilaya. They had various options. i wanted to take BA in psychology. additionally i also did french in my high school and wanted to continue as roshni had decent language options. My teacher from my high school told me that there weren't major differences in BA psychology and BSC clinical psychology, but bsc clinical psychology would provide in depth information about the course and also allow us to take the first step towards clinical practice . i had to first pay a non refundable admission fee of 26000/- initially after which i was enrolled. A month later i was called for my counselling session where i had to my pay fee, and then attempt an aptitude test. Later i was made to sign a few documents regarding few guidelines. There wasn't any exam required to be accepted in our college except for the aptitude test. The eligibility was- PCB student, 12th board scores more than 60 percent. But i was a humanities student, and my application was taken into consideration because of my marks ( 12th )

Faculty

4

The faculty is very approachable and friendly but are very professional and strict when required. They are all qualified and speak in fluent english. Every student is assigned a mentor who guides them. The class coordinators are there to guide the students in every step. i do not want to disclose the name of the faculty but all of them are amazing at what they do, they are all very experienced. We have two internal assessments including CCA along with a semester exam every sem. The marking is decent, it honestly depends upon the teachers. Some exams are hard, some are easy, Biopsychology has been a lil tricky so far. only 1 in 10 have failed the exams. The papers could be a little confusing to new psychology students but you eventually get used to it and it gets better

Night Life

2

Honestly speaking, i prefer staying in my class than roam around, it's not the same with my friends though. they love exploring the college. there are plenty of restaurants close by, we go over there for lunch toghether as the prices are cheap and reasonable. the prices are cheap because our college is located in the outskirts of the city. me and my friends usually like hanging around the library as it's peaceful and chill. we often make notes there. As our campus is a bit far from the main campus, we don't really have a lot to explore. The hostelites have a restriction period for three months when they first join. after the three month restriction period, they are free to go out and have a curfew until 6:30 pm

Course Curriculum Overview:

There wasn't really any. It was mostly the friendliness of the profs that pulled me into maths. Do note that in IISc, the first three semesters are common and you pick majors after that. The maths curriculum prepares you for a future in either industry or academia. Moreover, one can take courses in other departments to help their industry pursuits. Only way would be to make some courses more interactive, but this hasn't been a problem for me personally. Most high level courses have two exams. Sometimes not even that. And exams generally aren't difficult for someone who has kept up with the course.

Placement Experience:

from 6th semister onwards students are eligible for pkacements. I dont know about the companies of placements as iam a fresher here. The placements here are really good in this course. After Msc forensic science the annual package in an average here is 2-5 lakhs. Almost 80% of forensic students get placement here. As iam pursuing my bachelors here, iam thinking of writing the entrance exam for NFSU gujarath for my Masters.

Placement Experience:

Our university has a training and placement office for the fourth and fifth year students. Before that you need to find internship opportunities yourself. The significant companies include EY, MoSpi, RBI, NSE etc. The is around 50% placements. The highest package was around 40 lakhs and the lowest 5 lakhs. I plan on working in the RBI after my degree.
