Course Curriculum Overview

3

The curriculum was nothing special or out of the box. There was so many extra subjects each semester that had nothing to do with my stream and in order due to pass the semester we had to score good marks in these subjects which had nothing to do with my major to score a good cgpa. There were obviously a lot of cons like, from the very 2nd year only we started having company drives and internship that we could regester in and i even remember that i applied on an internship by OPPO that was for a content writer role.

Internships Opportunities

5

To crack any placement drive for a computer science student, One should start doing coding from the 1st semester itself and start practising on platforms like - hackerrank, leetcode etc. For placements only basics and medium level coding and concepts are asked also, focus on data structures, database and you are ready to go. A decent level of communication level is required and make sure to not fumble your introduction. By the end of 3rd semester, have atleast 3 projects ready, about which you know everything about dont just copy-paste, understand what each code is performing what task because most of the times the recruiters ask questions from the cv itself. So, you should know your cv like you know your own name. Companies like - accenture, opentext etc come every year and they mass hire. So, your chances of getting selected is very high even if you know a basicamount of coding. So, definitely grab this opportunity.

Placement Experience

5

As mentioned earlier, placements and internships start commencing from the early 2nd year only. My graduation period was between 2020-2024 which was mostly the covid period and still there was no shortage of placement drives. More than 1800 drives came but my specialization was in cyber security and there was a shortage of cyber security companies. So, i had no choice and had to apply for companies outside of my domain and i finally got an internship in my last year. The average package was around 20k per month and the highest was 40 lakh per year which was from flipkart. The percentage of students that got placed was more than 75% even in the covid period.

Fees and Financial Aid

[A] For OBCs category( for year 2020 ) :- 1) Tution fee - 63700 inr / yr 2) Registration fee - 9500 inr 3) hostel fee - 75000 / yr 4) mess fee - 25000 / yr [B] Scholarship :- 1) academic performace - a) if percentage in (10+2) > 90% = 35% scholarship b) if percentage in (10+2) <90% & >80% = 25% scholarship 2) LPUNEST - it's the entrance exam conducted by LPU itself for which they provide scholarship based upon the examinee's score, and the criteria for the scholarship changes every year.

Campus Life

5

For co- curricular activities, there's no need to worry. There were an abundance of activities and events that took place almost everyday. Even during my first two year which were held in remote way due to covid, there were still events happening online on conference. I even took part in section of the year event twice. There were various clubs regarding to arts, dance, singing, sports, acting, drama etc in the division of student wellfare block where a student can get into the preferred club. There was also a huge central library with computers and personal rooms for group discussions.

Hostel Facilities

3

There's a lot of option of hostel rooms:- dormitory, 4,3,2,1 seater rooms AC and Non AC. But, rooms are way more costlier than they should be.. The rooms are very small and not in good condition. The most luxurious way to live inside the campus is to opt for the apartment facility but ofcourse its way more costlier than the hostels. The mess food quality is average and the price is also justified. But sometimes the food quality gets really bad. On special occasions, they add special items like - pasta, cake etc in the menu. There is a place called Law Gate which is around 2km from the campus where, numerous PGs and rented homes are available to opt from.

Admission

I gave Jee mains exam and comedk and based upon my comedk results, i got calls from a few colleges but not from the top ones like - Ramiyah , SRM etc. Then, i decided to apply for LPU and upon getting scholarship from the lpunest exam that i got, i finally decided to go for LPU. The admission process is seamless. Everything is available on the lpu website. There's a registration fee and then you can give the LPUNEST exam and can achieve scholarsip according to the cutoffs.

Faculty

4

The faculty members collectively were very good. But, there were some that got on my nerves. Its all about luck, whether you get the great ones or the poking ones. THe faculty- to-student-ratio woukd probably be around 1:30. In my Btech computer science course :- semester 1 - 6 subjects semester 2 - 9 subjects semester 3 - 8 subjects semester 4 - 8 subjects semester 5 - 7 subjects semester 6 - 7 subjects semester 7 - 3 subjects semester 8 - 4 subjects Marking scheme - In every semester marks are divided into 4 parts :- continuous assesment(best two out of three) 25 marks + mid term - 20 marks + end term - 50 marks + attendance - 5 marks To sit for the exams atleast 75% attendance is mandatory.

Night Life

3

There were a lot of good spot to hangout. First of all the campus was so big itself that one didn't need to worry about space to jog on. There is a robo park which is arguably the most popular place to hangout. There were a lot of food courts to eat from but there was only one source available for non veg lovers which was 'food factory' and the rest are veg food courts. Outside the campus there are a lot of non-veg options to choose from and my favourite biryani spot was 'food point'. The only downfall is that we needed to take approved leaves to leave the campus and there was only 60 leaves per semester which is totally unfair and childish.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
