Course Curriculum Overview

4

I choose this course because I used to like maths from childhood and I alway wanted to pursue Mathematics hons. U have to be good and do hardwork to overcome this course. After doing mathematics hons there will be huge options infront of you cause for mathematics hons students there are large numbers of options. Like you can give govt jobs, can go masters or whatever. The exam time of 65 marks is 3hrs

Fees and Financial Aid

Per semester fee structure for maths hons with chemistry and physics in general was 6000 but for computer science and statistics in general was 9000. All lab fees and everything was included in this fee structure...and per year there in 2 to semester. And scholarship options are there like Swami Vivekananda scholarship and all. Fees structure of Asutosh College is affordable than other colleges

Campus Life

5

In Asutosh College there are a lot of extra curriculum activities....like annual cricket match, football match , badminton match for girls... Freshers and farewell programs dpt wise. Blood donation camps, picnics, to provide food and dress to the needy people....to visit old-age home to do something for them. There are two libraries in the college with huge aspect of collection on every thing, students can take advance of it. And there are social grp in the college but if the student eagerly want to join the grp then only they will take you otherwise the students who does not want to take part they will not disturb you

Admission

I have applied for Dinabandhu Andrews College and also New Alipore College for mathematics hons and I got selected for both the colleges and I started class in Dinabandhu Andrews College for few days but there the faculty used to talk in Bengali and the faculty members are not really good also the ambience so I applied in Asutosh College and I got selected too over there....so I shifted to Asutosh College, as I always wanted to persue this course from Asutosh College due to there faculty in this subject is really very good. Admission process is very easy for this college as they took online admission...so u have to fill form with all the documents and they will publish list according to merits and if you get selected then will they you to connect them buy giving all the details

Faculty

4

The faculty strength was about 10 and students strength was about 40. Faculties was divided equally for diff topics in diff semester. Students can approch the faculty if there is problem at any time. They are always ready to answer our doubts. Before each semester students have to give and internal examination in there own college only which carries 35( including ur attendance - 5 marks) and the main semester exam which carries 65 marks in another college where CU will assign your seat. Students who will study seriously will obviously pass. few students used to fail in in semesters but there is option that u can clear that semester again by giving exam in next year .

Night Life

5

Night life infront of the college is very much happening and safe too... There is Bhawanipur Police station just beside the college only. Places to hangout near college are Sreehari misti bandar for lip smacking kochuris and misti then there are huge number of street food options just beside the college with amazing food taste and quality...momos, sandwich, chowmin, pasta, Paratha and many more....there are famous biryani stalls namely Kaza biryani, Toofani Biryani. There are many room options available near by college.... Girls hostel and boys hostel are different

Other Applied Colleges

Dinabandhu Andrews College - [DAC] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] {Hons.} (Mathematics)

This college was far from my home and the faculty is not really good... teachers talk in Bengali

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
