Course Curriculum Overview

3

At LPU, the curriculum is designed with inputs from industry experts, so it stays relevant to current market trends. It’s not just about theory—there’s a strong focus on hands-on projects, internships, and real-world case studies, which help me apply what I learn in a practical way. There are plenty of specializations to choose from, so I can align my studies with my interests and career goals. Plus, skill development programs, workshops, and certifications make me more job-ready in a competitive market.

Internships Opportunities

3

I am currently in my 2nd year and have not started doing any internships. However, there are a lot of internship opportunities that LPU provides that may or may not provide any stipend. It is compulsory to do internships in your third year. The curriculum makes you do various projects and assignments from the 1st year itself so you can build an attractive resume.

Placement Experience

3

PU offers excellent placement opportunities to all eligible students through its dedicated Division of Career Services, a team of around 40 professionals, along with support from the Centre for Professional Enhancement and faculty members from various departments. Each year, LPU continues to set new benchmarks in student placements, with over 1000 companies visiting the campus for industry-academia activities and recruitment drives. LPU graduates are making their mark in over 1800 reputed companies worldwide, showcasing the university’s strong industry connections.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee was 120000 per year in 2023. It might keep increasing per year. There was a scholarship of 30%. The scholarship depends on a lot of factors like your 12th marks or any competative exam marks etc. There is also an exam fee of 4000 rupees.

Campus Life

3

There are a lot of fests and programs being conducted at LPU. Since there are students from different states here, they all celebrate their festivals. LPU has a huge library; there are books about almost all subjects. If you are a book lover, you have something to look forward to. There are multiple clubs you can join depending on your interests. The clubs also have programs you can attend in your free time Overall, LPU has a pretty decent campus life.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel rooms are pretty decent. You can choose between an AC room or a non-AC room. The mess food is not that good. They provide a standard 4 meals or you can choose how many meals you want per day. The hostel fee is about 90000 per year and it keeps increasing per year. The mess fee is 42000 for 4 meals. There are also apartments inside the campus but they might be more expensive. You can choose PG outside which is cheaper.

Admission

I applied to some local colleges in my area and even got selected for one. But, When I got to know about LPU, I immediately applied for it because I always wanted to study somewhere outside my home state. There is an entrance exam called LPUNEST you need to crack to get inside LPU. After passing the exam, the faculty will call you and explain everything about the admission process

Faculty

3

The faculty-to-student ratio depends on the course you take. For courses like Btech CSE, where there are a lot of students, teachers have to manage 60-70 students in one class, whereas in other courses like chemical engineering, the students are fewer. Most of the teachers are good, but some are not that qualified. Exams are either MCQ, which is a little tough, or subjective, which is comparatively easier.

Night Life

4

If you are a boy hosteller, you can roam around the campus till 12 in the night. But girls are only allowed outside the hostel till 7:30 pm, after that you will need special permission. The library stays open till midnight. The cafeterias and the gym closes around 9-10 pm. You can hang around the Robo park, which is like the main hang out spot for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
