Likes

Very big and green campus far from the noise of city
The campus is very clean , there are dustbins at regular distances.
The infrastructure of buildings, LA'S auditorium is nice

Dislikes

Im not sure about Hostel timings, rules , restrictions
Mess food, at some point you get bored with the mess food
Male female interaction, boys and girls not allowed to enter eachothers hostel

Course Curriculum Overview

Core courses are fine, like mathematics electrical electronics , but i dont think there was any need to teach evs to electrical engineering students, biology is being taught in engineerign college which seemed a bit irrelevant

Internships Opportunities

Being a first year i havent really researched about the internship facilities, but i have seen people getting internship at google , microsoft and other big companies .. im not sure if it was on campus or off campus though

Placement Experience

The college offers placements and the avg package is around 12.7 - 13.4 lakhs per annum, i havent really thought about sitting in placements though. I will consider it after my 3rd year. Many big companies come to the college thouh

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fee - 62500 Hostel seat rent - 5000 Caution money (refundable) - 10000 Emergency fund - 12500 Mess advance - 30000 Medical fee - 2000 Admission fee(one time) - 2500 With some other fee which sums upto 136500 for one sem.

Campus Life

Cultural fest como is held in october, innovision the tech fest in nov, nitrutsav in feb , vriddhi the sports fest in jan. Almost all books related to acads are in library, the sports facilities in campus are nice, its just all the sports are not at the same place. There are almost 70 clubs in the college of various types

Hostel Facilities

The room is really small for two students, there are no almirah, or anything to lock our valuables, they provide two beds, a table a chair a fan and a tube light thats all, the mess food is okay.., the registration process took less than 2 mins

Admission

The rank i got, from that rank this was the best college i was getting, apart from academies, it is still v good, the fests, clubs, and im glad i didnt went to nit trichy . Itherwsie i would have suffered a lot due to language barriers

Faculty

Not really sure about the faculty student ratio, but the each batch has a faculty advisor other than the regular teachers, a group of ten students are assigned a mentor for academic help. There is a mid sem for 30 marks end sem for 50 marks and 20 marks are for internals

Night Life

There are gyms in hostels, a common gym for all too, library ,reading rooms in every hostel plus a common library which closes at 8 pm but reading room closes at 10,there are many cafeterias, recenty dominos started here along with keventers, the locality is really safe, students roam late in the night till 2-3 am

I like the vibe of the canteen and greenery around my college

Dislikes

I don't like 75% attendance and the strictness of the faculty members

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is now updated since it became a University, so its more relevant to industry now but still we have to do extra courses for coding. Exams happen every few months—2 internals and one end-sem. They are not very easy, you actually need to study to pass without backlogs

Likes

The infrastructure of each campus in the college is very pretty and it's a green campus
The classrooms are well equipped with WiFi, Smart-boards for digital education.
Also travelling from one campus to another has been made easier as buses and golf carts are provided to students

Dislikes

The crowd of students here is too much which feels too much chaotic and disturbing .
The hostel management here as they don't give importance to the major issues here.
The hostel mess food. The quality is degrading day by day

Placement Experience:

The placements of my college is good. This year 75% of the students are already placed with an average package of 8LPA . The highest package till now for this year is 22LPA. Many companies have visited for the placements and 100+ offers have been made. Companies like BNY, Infosys, Deloitte, Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant, Bain& Company, High Radius, TCS, EY, PWC and many more of them have visited the campus.

Likes

Beautiful campus with lot's of space and with good computer labs
They conduct exam in very smoothly manner

Dislikes

Need to improve administrative building while submitting fees many students face problem
Lab session of some subjects are too long which is around 3 hrs which need to reduce for atleast 2 hrs

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities in my college are good, with students generally becoming eligible for campus placements from the pre-final or final year, depending on the course and company criteria. The college has an active placement celll that supports students by Organizing training sessions, resume building and also mock interviews.

Likes

Have collabs with IBM, Samsung, Capgemini for RnD and NUS singapore , University of North Texas
Our college has hosted International Conferences like IEEE InGAARS 2025and Indocrypt 2025, where scientists had came from NASA, ISRO, all IITs, Foreign Universities, etc
Exposure is Good. The teachers here put efforts to teach and research. Unlike other colleges where teachers comes and roll out PPTs, here every teacher teaches on Board explaining everything properly

Dislikes

Few teachers speak in Odia accent, so it takes couple weeks to adjust
Campus is kind of small (36acres), but its good area for a IIIT, considering IIIT delhi is just 25 acres
3 occupancy hostels for 1st years (same goes for any other NIT/IIIT), but they have a option of single rooms from 2nd year

Placement Experience:

from 6th sem, students are eligible almost 100 companies visited including IBM, VISA, Infosys, DE Shaw etc. Highest is 63 LPA and avg is 12-13LPA 90% placements I may consider doing MBA if I dont get very big package

Teaching style of faculty is excellent and related to practical based

Placement Experience:

From 6th sem of completion eligible to sit in placement called by campus placement in university. Companies like accenture, techmahindra,tech bee,and wipro comes for hiring. Highest package till now is 29 lpa and lowest is 1.5 lpa. Average package is 5lpa. Mostly 80 percentage of students getting placement from campus drive. My plan after getting degree is getting job from campus drive.

Likes

The professor who taught in our class they are taught is best In teaching.
They provide you many opportunities to work upon on you.
The infrastructure of college is good and huge.

Dislikes

The campus is very vast, and you have to walk for every minute of work.
The are very serious about your study and what you are doing
The gate get closed if you get came late even it's 5-10 minute late.

Placement Experience:

It's good as many company come but the placement directly depend on your study and hard work of your 4 year and a pre placement also conduct in 3rd year where you can also get placed. For placement the student should secure 8-10 cgpa for sit in interview exam.

So I choose these college over the others because of its relevant name and the hype of this college In India as It is Institute of national importance And also a government backed college and it is one of the most demanded college. So the colleges which I have applied to are DTU, NSUT, Nit Trichy, Nit Warangal, Nit Surat Kal And top 7 iits. No I was not rejected from the other college which I have applied to but the combination of branching and the college value Doesn't satisfied me for taking admission in that colleges. So the admission process for the Nit Rourkela Is that the eligibility criteria is 75% in 12th class And second criteria is to clear the entrance exam which is the JEE mains and also scoring a very good marks in it. Then by the centralised Josaa Counselling student will fill their choices ,lock and get allotments in the upcoming rounds of the josaa counselling. The ending rank to take admission in this college in the EC branch is about a 6000-7000 rank in the jee mains exam for the other state people. The Admission steps include 1)register and appear for jee mains 2) Get jee rank and register on the Josaa Portal 3) Fill college and branch choices 4) seat allotment in rounds; upload documents and pay seat acceptance fees 5) final admission after physical document verification at Nit Rourkela....Read More

Discovering NIT Rourkela

I chose NIT rourkela based on my JEE rank, as this was the highest rated college I could get.It had good placements, had a high NIRF ranking and in comparsion to my other choices was the clear winner. The admission process takes place through JOSSA counselling for B.Tech.After being alloted a college on site registration takes place followed by hostel allocation and branch admission , a procedure that lasts about 6-10 hours. The course is based on josaa counselling seat allotment. You have to clear jee mains with high marks and percentile to get into this college. You know the competition of jee mains and advanced. Internship-first step to placement.

The course requires us to clear jee mains in which the cutoff is above 90 percentile for general category. The form is found on NTA website and fees is about 1000 rs for general category. The exam happens twice in a year and by difficulty level is pretty descent...with maths the hardest and toughest.
